MyBroadband User Survey

One of the main reasons for my subscribing to ADSL was that of always on vs. dialup connection. I notice that this wasn't included in the survey.

Its a broadband survey, and dial-up is not broadband.

Speedtest.net ... not working for me .. I know it needs flash - I have a flash plugin installed.. it comes up with all the graphics (the world map, the speed dial etc.) but there's no button or anything to start the test???  - What to do?

You need to click on the green pyramid above London. That starts the test.

I completed the DSL384 test. A couple questions on the test refered to iBurst though.

There were no questions refering to the Iburst service. However, it does ask that you do the speedtest on the Iburst site.

Why are international download speeds so low ( ie. equivalent to dsl512) when I have dsl4096 connection using a shaped connection?

The speed tests are single threaded, and so the maximum speed is subject to many more variables and bottlenecks than your theoretical maximum speed. With a multithreaded connection, however, you could probably get quite close to your 4096kbps.

Hi there, sorry, I tried to do this tests, but as all of us know, gprs is very slow, and with Virgin mobile, even slower than slow. Maybe next time.

GPRS misses the broadband classification.

You need to click on the green pyramid above London. That starts the test.

Had the same problem with the speed test... the map and all the graphics loaded, but NO pyramids. Refreshed the page about 6 times same ****. Eventually came right, maybe problem with the site (or VC... blame it on the bunny).... normally no problems.

Tried the TCP thing, it started download, then VC HS(not!)DPA connection bombed out again. Now when I retry to run the app, tunes me some problem with some NetFX temp file that seems to have changed, click Ok to retry, .... I can retry all I like, same prob. Will try restart the laptop see if temp thing fixed.

The international test is way to complicated. Missed - rest done.

@rpm: May I suggest you consolidate all the MTN scores at the end of the survey? The way I understand it they only have one product; MTN Data. I believe with Vodacom you can choose whether you want 3G or GPRS and they bill accordingly.

As far as I'm concerned I bought an MTN HSDPA card and am paying for HSDPA service, its not my choice that I only get GPRS speeds.

I hope that LSM is not given priority when finalising the results. My LSM results are 2-3 times less than what I experience on a daily basis.

*Fortunately I know where london is So I just clicked there anyway and then all the triangles appeared...* nice one :D :D

I hate it

When I get an email that says "we want YOUR opinion" and then find out that they don't actually want my opinion because I am not on the straight and narrow path......... the path with gates!

Please guys please say that you are catering for windoze only. I didn't see any mention of Linux or Satellite. Nor did I see exceptions. I am getting tired of the SA business community presuming that windoze is the ONLY os.
thanks
regards
peter

I wonder if the survey will be a true reflection? :-) Oh yes a true reflection of a certain portion :-)

How do they cater for Windows only?

Its all browser absed.. maby not the TCPIQ app, but you can fill in teh whole survey without that, its an extra.

I've started the survey last night, while still on MyWi. Picked up the "update flash" issue with speednet, so I canned it. Switched to Iburst today, but I think I'll submit the survey with my MyWi info( which I wrote down :D), cause thats probably the worst 2 weeks I've had in 28 months with Sentech. Serves them right

maybe ask the people to check the speedtest.net site first, it requires flash V7, which might need to be updated on the client side
I want to second this, as I got right near the end then had to start again from scratch after installing the latest Flash. Just a message at the top indicating that you'll need to make sure you have the latest Flash installed before starting would go a long way.
