Recently MTN launched MyMTN Home Uncapped. I've read a post stating that the sim only deal is month to month, however when I go onto their site, the sim only deal also shows that it's a 24 month contract. I need confirmation ASAP because I'm tired of RAIN!

As we already had a ZTE MC801A 5G router in the office, we decided a month-to-month SIM-only offer would be our best option.

Unfortunately, this offer was not available online (like contracts), and we had to visit an MTN store to get the SIM.

Wow thanks, I guess I have to apply in store for the month to month deal.

Anybody check if routing is all going through JHB or does it route depending on your location?

I got this deal code from a MTN store for the 10Mbps R499 month to month - 2021304-CT-000400

I have tried to get the uncapped deal.. Sim only at mtn store and was told even though its month to month its still handled like a contract and you still have to go through credit checks.. I asked why is it then so easy to get connected on rain with month to month data plans.. Their response was they not Rain.. So why do they want to take on Rain when Mtn is making it very hard to acess the month to month pakages and handling it like contracts.. It just doesn't make sense to me

Give them the finger and go over to Rain

Not according to MTN, MTN doesn't do a credit check to confirm affordability ect, for month to month they used it for the following points.

4.12 MTN Month To Month Plan customers who choose to pay cash will only be validated for:

4.12.1 Customer Identity; and

4.12.2 Customer Fraud Flag.

4.13 MTN Month To Month Plan customers who choose to pay via debit order will only be validated for:

4.13.1 Customer Identity.

4.13.2 Customer Fraud Flag; and

4.13.3 Customer Bank Account.

4.14 MTN Month To Month Plan customers will be able to switch between payment options at any time (debit order or cash).

4.15 Depending on the MTN Month To Month price plan taken by the customers, it will inherit the standard business rules of the respective Price Plan Family.

4.16 The MTN Month To Month customers will also need to check the specific Price Plan Family standard Terms and Conditions on www.mtn.co.za.

Seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, they really should update their website in that case. It kinda defeats the purpose of using month to month, it is rather daft in that case, considering that you pay them a month in advance, if you don't pay they don't provision you nor can they charge you for it.

Compare this (per the article) ....
it comes with a 400GB fair use policy that throttles the speed down to 2Mbps.
..... to Axxess.

Axxess have the same FUP, are month - month without all the fuss (in theory, anyway).

They charge R50 more but it's up to 100 Mbps.
