I have done the unfortunate thing of signing a contract with Nashua Mobile for an iPhone 5s at R429/ month on an MTN Anytime R200, i asked them to put an additional R70.00 limit on it there by limiting the total to R500.00.

On the morning of the 2nd of March i reeceived an SMS stating that the airtime allocation for March had been credited to my account,at around 1pm on the same day i received another SMS stating that my limit for the month had been exceeded and i was now Locked, even though the phone had not been used for the whole day.

Upon phoning Nashua on Monday i was told by their Call Centre Consultant that "maybe your sim card does not know it has received airtime, please swithc of and restart phone" which i tried, did not work.

I phoned back and spoke to another consultant who proceeded to inform me that i had used my March airtime in February!

After more complaints i was contacted by the head of Consultants who tells me that the March airtime is still available for me to use, but i had exceeded my limit on the 28th of Feb and the 1st of March, thats why my line was locked.

According to her it is Nashua policy to allocate airtime on the 2nd of the month and charge you for what you use on the 1st. So Basically Nashua will first charge you for usage before allowing you to use the Airtime that comes with the contract. I asked this lady to email me a copy of the contract where it states that airtime will be allocated on the 2nd, she can t do it.

Another fantastic claim made by Nashua Consultant is that even if your iPhone is linked and showing a WiFi signal, it will use mobile data if the Mobile data connection is faster?

I would love to know if such a statement is correct?

If they give you the option to cancel, do it!
Cancel as soon as possible. It is not worth it to stay with them.

Do you know that you paid for all the phone calls to them?
If you use Vodacom "directly" you can call them for free.

Discussion here
It does seem that those people have experienced it. The phone uses the LTE connection even when connected via WiFi.

This made my day! bwah bwah.

The problem with putting a call limit on your line is when they soft lock you, you are unable to do free calls to voice mail for example.

I did tell her that i will pull out the Sim Card from now on, on the 30th and warn it to expect airtime.
