I've been feeling nauseous a lot lately and I can't do anything about the cause (/me reserves emo thread slot). A quick google indicated that Ginger Ale might help.

The closest thing I can think of is Iron brew. Is that real ginger ale? Or can I get better/real ginger ale somewhere which has not been soda-rized/pumped full of sugar by Schweeps/Cola?

Any other non-pharmaceutical nauseousness cures you guys can think of?:o

Whenever anyone in my family feels nauseous, my wife makes a ginger "tea": one fresh "knob" of ginger coarsely chopped or grated, pour boiling water over it, add honey (or sugar) to sweeten/make more palatable. One "knob" of garlic is good for 4-6 cups and will quell your nausea very quickly.

You could also use the dried, ground ginger to make a tea, but it's difficult to swallow because it tastes so gritty.

This was on Mythbusters as well, actually searching for that specific episode! :p

They used Ginger Pills, never heard of it though before the episode!

Valoid suppositories work wonders (apparently) :p

But I do know that ginger does work - the ginger beers/ales we get here though hardly contain any ginger at all though AFAIK. They use nature identical falvours instead as they can be chemically produced cheaper. They taste the same, but have no positive health benefit I am sure.

Use the real stuff with honey, and grate he ginger before infusing with honey, slice of lemon and a little fresh mint (all with boiling water of course). It tastes OK and the acidity in lemon also helps with nausea apparently...

Krest GingerAle works for me ....... any strong nausea and I use Adco-Cyclazine ..... works well :D

Woolworths has a really good ginger beer, and yes it does help for nausea. Hope you come right and feel better soon.

My daughter tends to get quite car sick on long trips. Some crest (krest?) ginger ale and ginger biscuits seem to do the trick.

Firstly thanks for all the suggestions guys/girls.:)

Cool....will definitely check if I can find that floating around on the ether.

If you are allowed to use medicine, try Valoid.
I'd rather not. The meds are causing the naseousness....and they are powerful enough to kill an elephant so I'm reluctant to add more chemicals to the mix.:o:(

Thats what I feared. I tried Stoney today and didn't notice any effect.

Never heard of Krest. Any place in particular where I should start hunting for it?

I'll have a look. I've never seen any there...but then again, I wasn't looking.

Pop into a local chinese/thai foodstuff supplier and grab a box of ginger tea
I'll ask my chinese friends whether they know a place.

Thanks.:) Maybe I'll resurrect this thread to report...cause I suspect I'll have ample opportunity trail&error all of the above.
