Nedbank promises many apps this year

an online share trading app where clients can view their portfolio and place buy and sell share orders from their mobile or tablet (which Nedbank claims is a first in South Africa)

Wrong! I can buy and sell shares online using the FNB mobi banking site on my cellphone.

Shame, these guys are so far behind the curve it's actually humiliating. Almost feel sorry for them.

Too little too late..

and an App isn't the reason I moved to FNB. It was eBucks, plain and simple.

They may not have been first, but give them a chance to show what they can offer. Innovation and competition will only benefit the consumer.

Nedbank is offering at least one thing the other banks are not, although www.22seven.com is, but the Nedbank one is going to be launched with a lot more functionality, here is a demo from YouTube on the Nedbank "MyFinancialLife" offering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMTJu9y2d-I&feature=player_embedded#! It aggregates data from all of the banks, not only Nedbank and it is going to be a free service - even to non-Nedbank clients.

Looks very good. The cellphone verification system in use now is a bit glitchy. About 3 times out of 10 I do not receive the second confirmation and have to start over. Nedbank blame the network, CellC blame Nedbank. So I started to use Capitec, with their number generator thingy.

Does look good, and I might make use of this since it will be free, and I have a Nedbank homeloan...

But at the end of the day, Nedbanks rewards program just isn't up to scratch anymore. I made over R100 back from FNB in my first month purely on eBucks.

Which bank offers the best reward system in South Africa?

I have a Stardard Bank account, and receive NOTHING NIL ZADA from them.

I am also with Nedbank, they have greenbacks. Get about R2000 per annum.

Knowing Nedbank they'll roll out this amazing super functional app...but you need iOS 3.2335 to run it. Or a brilliant new internet banking interface...and you need IE 8.234875 for it to work.

Nedbank, and their IT, is completely useless.

I was a bit disappointed with the Nedbank Greenbacks system. I had linked a small business (sole proprietor) account on which the turnover is about R 1.2 million a year. The business account has a R 55k overdraft facility which I never use. However, one time Neotel mistakenly debited this account 4 times on one day with a R 4000 invoice and the account became overdrawn to the tune of about R 1500 for a few days until Neotel credited it. I only found out about the debit the day after it occurred.

Nedbank said that Greenbacks accounts can never be overdrawn, and since this was the case, I could no longer link this account to the Greenbacks system and removed it. I had spent about R 800 000 in nearly 10 months and it was all cancelled.

They still charged me the R 149 annual fee

I moved from Nedbank to Standard Bank about a week ago. Much happier, and the Android app is very convenient.

This and it will be secure because every time you want to transact you'll have to go in to a branch first.

* crickets *

As usual, MyBroadband/Moneyweb reported some PR release as "news". And as usual, no follow up or investigation as to what happened.

I'm not sure who I am more annoyed with: Nedbank for not releasing anything or MyBroadband/Moneyweb for completely useless news.

Ask MyBB to follow up on version 1.7 or something. The first 6 will be ****, guaranteed.
