I've never had one before but since I'm on Telkoms LTE, I figured I can get one and make use of it because I might be going for a trip to JHB.

Problem is most are expensive like R1000 plus. Any one knows where I can purchase one at a much cheaper price?

No i dont think you will i bought one the other day on takealot for R1300 i think and it was a brilliant device. you could possibly buy ones for alot cheaper on aliexpress.com but you run the risk of it maybe not being that great and warranty etc

try Telkom. if memory serves, they had a 500mb contract with 1.5gb night data and free wifi device for 50 month. it works out to R1200 and you get a back up data sim with a little data

1) Buy a cheap Android device
2) Insert SIM and turn on Wifi hotspot
3) ??????
4) Profit

:D

Is LTE an absolute must??? Its not like you'll be downloading huge files, it's for browsing isn't it?

I agree with you - I have 2x 3G mifi's which work fine when I am on the move and out of town. In the case of the OP, if he/she is on LTE uncapped with Telkom, then he/she cannot use that sim in 3G mode, only LTE....

@OP - I have an Afrihost 3G mifi spare which I could sell if you are happy with 3G speeds. It is still brand new but the battery only lasts a few minutes as it must have expired while in my safe (works great when plugged in to a cigarette charger or cell charger). PM me if interested.

I'm on the uncapped LTE (which you are on too if I remember). Wouldn't mind but if it only last a few minutes that's not gonna be too good for me lol
