Hi All

I just got a test Telkom account (thought there was an error on my line) and its running at full capacity. Getting 420KBs down.

When I switch to my AH account, I dont get anymore than 50.

I called their call centre and they openly stated that the network is under supplied (everyone is fighting for the same data) and capped accounts are affected,

I want out. Im downgrading to their 1Gb free account and have to choose a new ISP

I use 60 Gbs a month (light torrenting - lotsa youtubing)

I want a full pipe of speed.

Vox's website isn very user friendly, Telkom? WA?

Should I stick with ISP's that are on the IS backbone?

Help/ Thanks

yip in the same boat here, looking for around 200gb, bouncing between crystalweb and vox fatpipe from1st july
AH is a disaster thanks to mtn lousy network

Telkom is the cheapest if you take the DO bundles (seeing that you can use as much as you want from 12pm to 7am) and I never feel any shaping during the day using usenet. Are you on a 4mbps line ?

Yes, 4 meg line. Thinking of going do Premium and have it upgraded to 10 meg with 50Gb for R80 extra than I am currently paying

Yes, it's R699 including everything (voice too). 50gb anytime should suit you, just schedule the torrents after hours (then you can rape it)

Am in the same boat here...

Interesting yet their "rep" on the forum denies this to be the case...

So I called Telkom asking to be upgraded to their do Premium.

I know my area supports 10Mbps (copper).

Their sales dude tells me sorry, we dont support 10 meg in your area on our system. Wishing TelkomZA would reply to my PM on this.

Maybe they are stalling until after the 25th so that I dont get a free Xplora

Have thought about joining the same package but that 24 month contract I dont like.

Ps just phone again somebody else will help and either confirm or tell you your area does support 10 mb and sign you up

Its not on a contract mate, its a month to month. I would never screw myself over signing myself into something.

From the Telkom website

DO PREMIUM

See what's inside the do Premium deal forR699pm x 24

I disagree mate, have a look below. One thing that has caught my eye though, is the 50Gbs of data (capped) is shaped according to this screenshot

The 24 month contract means you get a free DSTV explorer. Month to month does not come with the explorer.

So you can do the upgrade via 10210,the store or online.

Iv tried to do it online but it forces the once off installation fee of R705. Which I will not pay.

The idiots over at 10210 cannot help me either.

Vox 25gb gig4gig with bolt-on. R148.00 per month with a once off R50 connection fee.

Vox 25gb gig4gig with bolt-on. R148.00 per month with a once off R50 connection fee.

Do I need to call Vox to order this, because I have seen that their website doesnt allow adding the bolt on, plus they want me to provide all my personal info first before I can even select anything for my cart.

I have also read that many people are struggling with their bolt-on not working and eating their cap

Very good option too.

It would bring the total to R425 for 10Mbps line + R189 line rental + R148 Vox = R762

Will give 50% less daytime data but will give you much more data on the uncapped bolt on from 6pm to 6am and whole weekend where Telkom Softcap does not.

I think the above mentioned deal which is only available through the contact form at Vox and the new do premium plus is the best value for money deals. Both on very good backbones too. :)

Thanks for the feedback guys

No problem. :)

You could also get a openweb capped account as they perform pretty good since it is IS based with unshaped access and uncapped data between 00:00 and 6am although the reseller is not really recommended by the forum members due to people having bad experience with them. I for one have not. The accounts are pretty awesome though.

Yeah, sign up is a bit tedious.

I've bought 3 or 4 packages with Vox to date and I'm still not sure what the best sign up method is.

Fatpipe you can sign up online and buy immediately (easy to find and see where). Gig4gig same story (but less obvious to find), online webform.

Bolt-on must be requested. They'll call you back to confirm bolt-on order.

There were a few technical glitches with bolt-on this weekend. I only subscribed to the product just short of a month ago and so far it has been superb!
