Need a suggestion for a TV Box or Android Box.

I can go into the iStore and have it fixed.

Awesome - good for you.

Only "bricked" Shields I am aware of, are those that "clever" types tried modding. Which invalidates any warranty any how.

If my Shield power supply should go, I am fully confident nVidia will send a replacement, by express courier, at no cost, to my door. No need to trudge to the iStore, and stand in the queue.

I will always suggest the Apple tv. It is just faster and better than most of these Android boxes.
But claiming that the Android will only have support for 2-3 years is a bit far fetched. Both my Ematic boxes are still running fine after years. Yes they are much slower than the Apple tv but they work fine with all the apps.
So if you want the cheaper Android get something like the Nova( Ematic upgrade) that will have support for years.

Count yourself lucky.
I lost my oldest Ematic box late last year a little while after the Android 10 update when it bricked itself. Luckily I managed to get it replaced, and my other newer Ematic never had the update available, so it's still running Android 9. But now I see the replaced one has a slightly different look and feel, so it looks like it has updated to something newer, still within the Android 9 platform. Weird that the other one doesn't find any further updates. But yes, not too long after the Android 10 update and the subsequent issues that people had, it was removed. My advice to friends and family has always been to get one of these, but I now recommend the newer Nova model, which I will eventually get to replace mine, but for now, they are working perfectly, even on my WiFi! LOL

Agree, both my original Telkom LIT Boxes are still running fine, no issues other than they are end of life, and Netflix is no longer supported, that being a Telkom issue.

Get a Nova, or Mi-Box S 2nd Generation, and you should be good for years. Want to spend a bit more, get an Apple TV, just keep in mind it comes with the usual Apple issues.

You want the best, buy a nVidia Shield TV Pro.

Enjoy. It's just much faster and a joy to use compared to these sluggish Android TV boxes. Still my best Apple purchase yet.
Yeah man they pain I had to go through just to install F1 TV on my Hisense Android TV. Now I should be able to watch it natively and cast from my Iphone if I need to. I just could not justify paying R3500, it also helps if you have a good amount of Ebucks saved up.

Stupid question what is the space for, I mean the apps will probably use like 10Gb is there anything else you can do?

The space can come i handy, when you take the box to Swaertjie, and don't want to carty flieks on a memory stick, when you have a braai, and general pissup. Or if you teach Sunday School and use it as a teaching aid, to hold your teaching materials/content.
