Hi everyone.

Looking for a media device that can run Netfix ,shomax , Dstv now ,and even Amazon tv .

what devices to you suggest? what set up do you run ?

Options I have considered : Chromecast , Firestick, Rouku

Roku doesn't have Showmax or DSTV Now, FireSticks are a pain to set up.

Good for you. So you're saying this MyGica device supports DSTV Now? Interesting. Stock standard, or do you have to load an older version and disable updates, etc etc?
Comes standard installed. For Netflix you need the beta firmware which I have been running for at least 6 months without issues.

Or you can get the Mi Box for around the same price and everything will be better except you don't have an Ethernet port.

does roku lock you out so that you cannot preload other apps onto the system?

I was looking at getting a new box and I was looking at either the Roku or FireTv. I was looking at the Mi box but I would prefer to have an ethernet port

Other apps from where? It's not android based so don't think you can load apks. I've got both - the fire stick is useful because it's inexpensive, almost as inexpensive as a Roku, and you can load DSTV Now, but for everything else the Roku just blows it away.

what i am looking mostly for and why I was considering the Roku is because I want to watch Hulu and Netflix, but if I am wanting to load other things such as HBO or something else (from even say ITV from the UK) later on I just want to know I can download APK's or apps for those specific things. I am just worried that things like Hulu (which you cannot get the App on the South African store) won't be able to be side loaded.

Thanks for the input
