Hi Guys,

I'm currently on a 4mbps line speed and want to upgrade to 10mbps.
I checked on the telkom coverage site and it shows my max speed is 4.
I called the call centre and they said my area supports it and i can get 10.
I went to the telkom store and they said it doesn't and max my line may go is 2.
Is there any way that i can check myself? Or anyone from telkom that I can speak to about this?
I want to take the Do Premium deal for 699 * 24 months.

Thank you.

Oh good luck buddy. I am busy with this at the moment. My line was previously on 10mbps before I downgraded it to 2mbps. Now I want to upgrade it again and Telkom refuses to go anything higher than 2 siting that my house is too far from the exchange - well neither my house nor exchange moved since it was 10 the last time. :wtf: Brick wall, not getting any resolutions.

Phone Telkom and tell them that work has been done in the area and a technician said you should be able to get 10mb/s. Tell them to set your line to 10mb/s so you can test for a few days and if it doesn't work you will phone and set it back.

Then get a free account from any ISP, put in the details and test for a few days.

I did that a few weeks ago without any problems

Check how far you are from the exchange route, you should be less then 5Km's away, I actually think it should be less then 4km's.In my area the max is 4mbps, but Im getting 3,3mbps at its best.

Try Telkom's ADSL checker:
http://www2.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/check.htm

Or, find your address on the map and double click, it will tell you what your options are as well:
http://www.telkom.co.za/coverage/

Note that both the above options aren't always accurate/correct.

You could also post your router's adsl line statistics here; that will give us an idea whether you line is physically capable of 10Mbps.
