Hey all...

We recently upgraded from a regular do 2 384 package to a 4mb line. We were told that there are no costs involved beside the extra couple of hundred rand a month.

About a week ago we were contacted and told that we have reached our credit limit (of R1500+-) and that the line will be cut if its not paid. After contacting telkom on numerous occasions to try and resolve the issue we are still left with absolutely no idea where theses charges come from.

They contacted us today (about a week after they first contacted us) and told us that our line has now been cut, and the changes stand at R2800, once again not being able to give any details.

Every day that we phone we are told that the bill has not been issued, and that we should phone back the next day when it will be ready.

Anyways, has anyone had an issue like this before? We do work from home in the evenings so we would like to resolve the issue asap, but Telkom seems to just avoid the situation. Any ideas?

Thanks
Craig

(We have been into the store, and tried phoning them, got the same responses both times)

Go into the store and demand they show you the charges so you can settle it once and for all and simply don't leave till they help you.

Wait!

I have seen a few times that it has been mentioned here that most if not all telkom adsl packages were made uncapped (or something like that) & that people are being billed for going over their GBs when infact there should not be such a limit.

I hope maybe someone else recall some of those threads & can maybe post a link here. I have tried to look & can't seem to find any in my hurried searching.

I wonder if this has something to do with your excessive bill????

Just thought about it a bit more.....

Ask them(telkom) to see what international numbers were dailed on your phone. You might have been a victim of one of those kind people that borrow your line to call out the country on LOOOOOOONG calls.

My (ADSL, line rental) line was transferred to my name from the company. due to the time it was done, i had to pay the current month and following month's cost (over R1500). 7 days before payment was due i got a call from a rude telkom operator demanding payment be done in 2 days or else my line will be cut. i told him he can go into my account and he shall see that its ADSL cost for two months and no calls were made. also told him payment is due on the 15th. oh well, you can argue till you blue in the face. they just dont care. i made a report on hellopeter and got the same poor excuse. pay up or else.

Hey CraigT

So i was looking at our online usage report apparently our 4mb line downloaded the following in a day.

2010-10-25 128.6 GB
2010-10-26 117.4 GB

Is this even possible? Why doesn't the Audit trail section show it.

neph,

i would venture to say that your login details were ''borrowed by someone. Ask them to check what line it was used on.

Also if you were on a ''hard cap'' those DLs should not have been allowed.

i also find it hard to believe that can be DLed on a 4mb line in a day.

Keep bugging them.

What i don't understand is: there are two reports when it comes to telkom usage, namely
DSL Usage Report and,
Audit Trail

The former reports the large amount while the latter has no evidence of it .... man i am frustrated!

Keep bugging them!

Remember you have your account & you have your line. If you are the only person using the account then account usage should = line usage. But if your account usage is higher than your line usage then someone borrowed your login details.

They should be able to tell you what line(s) the account was used on. It is after all your account & info you are entitled too.
