Need help with Configuring HTPC

How do you guys set all these up to be seamless? :wtf:

How do i pick up a remote, select a service (NTV or Netflix), select content and BAM!!!! it eappears.

I need this to be as seamless as possible, i have a youngster (5 years), and a wife (Technologically impaired) and they want to watch TV.

Can someone please give me some tips:

1. I need an all-in-one media centre software solution.
2. I'll get a remote if needed (however i have the LG smart remote that comes with the smart tv's)
3. I need to be able to include all my downloaded material, Music, Movies and Home Videos (not all that important)
4. I don't want to switch between software packages

Please peeps, i really need some guidance here

What i have:

LG Smart TV (Wifi)
LG Magic Remote
HTPC (Quad Core, 4gb, GTS250TI, 2tb, Wifi)
Netflix
NTV
VPN
Interwebs

You can have a look at mymediaexperience.com , guides are pretty comprehensive and seems its similiar to what you want to do. I have a plex server running on an old pc, we connect to it via the plex app on our samsung smart tv, control is via the normal tv remote. Think you need to start looking at what software has a compatible app for your tv and work your way from there, think there is an xbmc app for the LG tvs.
