Use a download manager to get the VLC install file.

First install Getright or DAP or Orbit. That way the file won't be corrupt when you get it.

Something tells me you're using MWEB uncapped... :P

Try using a download manager to download the file, also try running it with Administrator privileges...

after you download the file calculate the md5 checksum and compare it to the site. Sounds like the complete file is not being downloaded.

Like everyone is saying you probably downloaded it once and it was incomplete. Now whenever you want to download it your system is just pulling out the previously downloaded file from your cache

I had a similar problem bout a week ago. A DiskCheck seemed to solve the problem for some reason.
