Thanks Synergy, cheap is a relative term…my site will not have much traffic I think, I don’t need it to be local, how much are you paying at the moment if I may ask?
Firstly: They hold your information. If you need technical assistance I doubt they will provide it. They also have no guarentee''s on uptime of the website etc. Also if you go with a cc domain, what if they hold it hostage? You will have to go through the domain authority for .cc which is overseas, and most likey phone them to get anything done.
You can't hold them accountable. There's millions of reasons, It would be almost virtually suicide to go with a freebie like that.
In -most- cases, you're going to look at around R20.00 or R30.00 per month for a conservative web hosting account.
Keep in mind that in web hosting, you do get what you pay for.
R50 will be fine, as long as it has support and reasonable uptime.
Much better budget if you want both real support and uptime
Good luck with your venture, we're quite a good community of experts on this forum so you're in right hands.

Thanks guys, but I will want to go with .co.za, as the one domain is already registered. Anything in the R30-R50 will be fine, as long as it has support and reasonable uptime.
Have you tried GamCo yet? R51.30 for the Basic hosting option (and supports pretty much any server-side code you might want to use, i.e. PHP, ASP.NET, Cold Fusion, etc.). Service has been fast and reliable so far. I recommend GamCo to all my clients.
Quick Question Raven - do I need to pay more to run something like PHPBB or is it usually included in the webhosting fee? also, thanx for hosting me and Lino.
Raven - do you host on Linux or...? Reason is, I develop primarily .NET apps and need IIS running on the web server. I'm not the biggest Apache fan.![]()
Ok if I have the site done in Frontpage do I still have to enable frontpage extensions? I seem to remember something like that.
I don't see why you should be charged extra if you use FrontPage extensions. I recommend you ask your host if they charge extra for it.
