Have to disagree with you here. Using a Netgear DG834 and I am maxing out my 4MB line. Stable as hell. Perhaps the new Netgears are not that great, but unless my current one burns down/out, I will not look at replacing it anytime soon.

Lifetime warranty is all salesman talk it probably doesn't cover half the stuff you need it to cover if something is wrong with the router or happens to it

Haha I have the DG834GT. First two died and were replaced under warranty. 3rd one is doing OK but it's been an annoying piece of crap at times, randomly disconnecting certain devices until it was reset. Seems mostly fixed in the latest firmware.
The crappy wifi adapters cause random BSODs on both Win7 PCs I've used them on. On the WinXP machine the crappy drivers cause another set of problems with disconnections that require the PC to reboot.
As far as I'm concerned, Netgear must die!
The Linksys adapter I have works flawlessly and has no need for drivers or crappy software.

I always find it funny when people like MagicDude4Eva post on how great Netgear modems are, simply because their one is working great. Atleast MagicDude4Eva did think out of the box by stating that it's possible that only the newer Netgear modems are prone to those issues that I've listed.
I do value all the guys' input who say that they're pleased with their modems, because that is how I build up my knowledge base on which I advise other people. I would actually love for them to post some statistics of their ADSL as well, like SNR margins, sync speeds, line attenuation & uptime - all of which will help to prove of how wonderful their modems are.
From what I've heard about the Netgear modems, it seems to me like the DG834(non GT) models are pretty good.
If Netgear could've just included bridge & half-bridge modes in their DGN2x00 series, then I might've actually recommended those modems to some people.

I'm very curious to know how the SNR margins of those Intellinet modems compare with those of TP-Link & D-Link.
Then the second concern is whether they support bridge & half-bridge modes, and lastly if they are stable?
In terms of stability, my ancient Telkom ADSL 5100 modem hasn't dropped a connection once in the 4 months that I've had - except for the few times when I had my line reset/fixed
I think the same can be said for the TP-Link & D-Link modems.

According to the manual here it appears to be able to go into bridge mode.
No idea what SNR margins are or Line Attenuation, isn't that line specific and not router/modem specific?
