Thanks. Yeah, it's below cost price from another supplier.

Esquire's pricing and effort on this forum is great for which we are all thankful for, it's just a pity that they censor service complaints instead of dealing with them, and sad that they tend to lay blame on the customer instead of taking responsibility. :( So yeah, if you ever need to return that router (touch wood), remember we warned you. You will most likely need to PM Esquire to receive better service.

I've challenged Esquire to create an "Esquire service thread" - I think it's important seeing as they took on MyBb. I've also asked for an explanation as to why "that one complaints thread" was deleted - but as you can see he avoids answering.

Anyway, enjoy the router, and good luck shopping at Esquire Cape Town.

DLINK? Never worked with such a crap range of products before. Every single thing from them had issues? Once even a brand new ADSL Router was all nicely sealed only to discover it was second hand. Will NEVER touch that useless pathetic make again!
 
Hehe. Awesome products, awesome customer service, awesome warranty process.

Out of about 50 D-Link ADSL modems/routers, I've had 2 returns. Both were upgraded to better units.

So yeah. I would say they deserve another chance from you. My opinion. ;)

Out of 30+ dlink adsl modems/routers I installed last/this year, more than 30% were replacements of NETGEAR routers :D
 
Esquire, as I mentioned earlier in this thread; I was hoping to make my first Esquire purchase this week, but since finding out that you may be censoring threads/posts on the forum relating to your after-sales service, I am hesitant.

Please answer the questions posed to you by PostmanPot, the main one which I can find is "Why was _that_ thread closed?"
(I'm assuming that means you both know which one is being referred to - because I have absolutely no idea)

I'd appreciate your response to this post whether or not you intend to answer his question, so that I know where I stand.

If you choose not to, unfortunately I'm forced to continue to resell only for your competition.

I'm looking for a router for my Neotel USB modem. Any suggestions? It should work on the 3G/HSDPA networks as well.

Yes, the D-Link DSL-2760U has USB ports for sharing 3G/USB dongles, printers, HDDs (I think), etc.

You're in Goodwood? Can meet you in Montague Gardens today at 16h20 if you want to take mine. :D

Are you sure it will take the 3G dongles? :wtf: I only saw samba and printserver... is there custom firmware? :confused:

Are you sure it can take 3G/HSDPA modems?

Meh, might only be for printers and storage devices. About a year ago there was a D-Link modem/router with a USB port(s) that shared 3G/USB dongles. I thought the 2760U was the as-competent replacement.

I must give D-Link a call, maybe they can tell if there's a special f/w for sharing 3G/USB dongles.

Went and got my DSL-2760U from Esquire this afternoon... thanks for all the advice and recommendations...
It's still a bit useless at the moment as still waiting on Telkom to come put a phone line in :D

Anyone know how to enable web access on the router? To be able to access the router via IP address when away from my network?

You can only access the web page of the router with a LAN cable. You might even have to force your IP address to the 192.168.1.x IP range to access the router on 192.168.1.1.

Should've mentioned that when buying the router instead of just assuming...
The free router my folks got from Telkom even has the ability to be accessed from online :wtf:

EDIT:

Think I found it under:
Advanced Setup>DNS>Dynamic DNS
Need to test it when I get my line put it and am online...
