So applied for 1 Mbps connection today. Will let you guys know when they come and do a LOS.
Have neotel expanded their coverage for wi-max yet? Desperately want to have uncapped service but seem to be located in an area that is serviced by nobody (Telkom refuse to replace stolen lines), never mind the fact that I'm a stones throw away from Fourways :wtf:
Hi phool
Neotel will most likely not expand the WiMax network as they roll out more and more LTE base stations, PM me your location and I will run a feasibility on what's available in your area.
I tried using the neotel website coverage map but it seems that the coverage area would change depending if I zoomed in or out, so I presume that is not working as intended.
What's the upload speed on Neotel Wimax? Discovered today that I'm in range and desperately looking at getting rid of my iBurst.
Also see I'm in the LTE coverage - do we have any idea what the pricing will look like?
I have seen many other Neotel WiMAX speedtests on the forum, their latencies are really good?
Also what is the difference between NeoBroadband WiMAX and this promotion? I have seen people on 1mb NeoFlex WiMAX and their pings are average 25-60ms?
Bad news, can't pick up LOSAny other ideas for the Lonehill area?
Awesome!Still stuck here on my sh*t ADSL
Looking at there LTE Uncapped though, just got Vodacom 4G the other dayApparently the LTE signal has further range than the 3G one?
I ws with NoeTal at the previous company I worked with and the Wimax was super cool fast, unshaped and uncapped. But dont think you can get technical issues resolved. That was a major pain in the backside dealing with neotel. IMHO they have the product but not the service.
OK, so Neotel was at my house today to do LOS and installation. Unfortunately the signal is very weak - seems like the tower is 7 km away and they usually aim for 5km. So no go.
Will now either consider LTE (though I expect the same since I can't imagine Neotel has different towers for different services and thus a closer LTE base station) or another WISP's service.
I live in Midrand 6Km from Neotel's big offices here. After Telkom told me they cannot service me due to high copper theft I thought at least getting Neotel should not be an issue.
Turns out I am not in LTE coverage nor in Wimax coverage.
I have however herd from my fathers company who deals with all the telecommunications in SA that iBurst has lost over 80,000 subscribers in the last year.
Kind Regards
