How much bandwidth allocated per account ie. dedicated server hosting in the US, standard is 1TB/traffic/month?

How much it costs?

Uptime guarantee?

Hardware SLA's?

If they price to compete with the US market, then I'll be migrating all my account to their data center, no probs! Very interesting development this...

that's what is so bad. Building up this expectation of proper performance and ability to scale and then only later introducing the price. Builds up all this false hope when it costs the same as everyone else or just slightly less. Why would someone move for slightly less when you have built up a relationship with your supplier over time?

I suppose only time will tell. Let's not get too negative.

What it sounds like is a precurser to why they won't be competing on price.

I think what we need is real broadband, so that *where* a site is hosted becomes irrelevant.

This is a colocation server hosting service. The 2.4mbps is a wireless internet service provided to consumers. The 2 are totally different.

I would love to host locally--but I can't see the prices competing with international hosts like BlueHost in the foreseeable future. South African hosting has a long way to go before it reaches the current international hosting standards.

Can't you people at least try to be a little more positive about these developments? Yes, I agree the article is a little vague, but it seems to be a step in the right direction.

And BOO to the people who want everything at a cheap price...it's called margins and we all are in it to make money (if your company isn't there is your prob a non-profit org), so what "competative" will be has to be seen...but please don't shoot something down on face value...

Unfortunately 10 Mbps will not be sufficient for serious local multimedia streaming. We need 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps offerings, at least on the local backbone. And please tell me local and international bandwidth charges are separated!!! That is extremely important.

I'm very tempted to muddy the waters and post something about NeoGhost having been licensed in December 2005 and still isn't offering any tangible service in my area, but that would be going off topic for this particular thread.
