Neotel charges for data delivery overhead

We all need to compare our usage - for those who were over charged..

How ironic that we all got charged for over 7 gigs of data usage.

I'm waiting for a response from Neotel, sent them the graph and I posted in Hello Peter and got a call immediately from Samantha, and emailed it all directly to her so we'll see what happens.

But I agree, if we were all nailed by this, we need to stand together and ask for our money back until they get a usage service.

I've gone un-capped for November, suppose I'm going to get another shock end of this month when my bill comes for October.

What you do is run your connection until your data usage estimate is half your Neotel cap...then stop using the internet...problem solved! :D

Tell me what happens because neotel have not came back to me at all and already thinking of posting on hellopeter about this...

It has been over 1 week and nobody from Neotel have came back to me.

Yup, not a peep. I've emailed them the data I've made available here, but have had no response.
WRT the blocked/firewalled data issue: As I've said before, I logged the data on the ppp device before (or after for outgoing data) the networking layer - including the firewall - has done its thing. I've also compared Neotel to Telkom, Vodacom and iBurst - all of which I've logged exactly the same. Neotel compares unfavourably - by a large margin.

Response from Neotel after I mailed them to ask if they can confirm receiving my mail and graph and what is the status:

Hi Peter,

I received the email and the attached graph and I have sent it through to Head of billing for comparison. I am still awaiting feedback and will revert to you as soon as the information is made available to me.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

No timeframe given...*cue ominous music*

Hmmmm, I wonder how come the response is always we have forwarded it to the relevant department. Why can't they just respond with with some feedback. I mean neotel isn't that big yet... stand up, walk to the "relevant" department and get the feedback then respond. Come on Neotel, what is your turnaround time on a query; two weeks, three weeks?

/me thinks "relevant department" = "miscellaneous junk we don't know how to respond to department, sure someone else will rifle through it and send a response."

Got a call from Neotel this morning reasuring me that they are working on the situation and they have asked me to send them all the Data in Raw format from Net Limiter.
Looks like I have to do all the work.

So I won't pay... they have the conversation recorded on the broken recorder and thumb suck what they feel like in usage and are a total bunch of ....... they should offer a free service to us as we are doing all there dirty work for them. I wonder where my business would be if I offered this type of service...

With your amount of moaning and groaning nobody else would want your business. Get a life and stop being petty.

Neotel did not put a gun to your head. You should have done your homework. If want a capped service, then go iBubbles.

Do you know that Neotel is 40% more expensive than Telkom for 1 gig of data. Neotel add is 8c per meg x 1000 meg's = 1 gig = R 80 plus vat ( R 11.20 ) = R91.20. Telkom is only R 64.00 per gig. Check out Neotels other cost. Telkom is not the rip off. Everyone is so happy about Neotel, that they forgot that bull...t baffels brains. Read then fine print and if it is not there ask or find it. You will be ripped off by Neotel.

Really? Gee...I didn't realise Neotel was ripping us off...please could you point me to Telkom's R999 uncapped deal including voice and data so that I can sign up today?

Oh?...what's that?...they don't have one of those?...Oh well...at least they aren't "ripping us off" like Neotel are.

EDIT: You also forgot to add Telkom's line rental, both ADSL and ordinary telephone as you need both to have a connection, unlike Neotel, and what speed are we talking here as that also affects the price comparison. You'd need to use quite a few gigs to make up that difference in monthly costs between Telkom and Neotel for Telkom to start looking competitve.

Lol I used "Telkom" and "competitive" in the same sentence.
