Neotel charges for data delivery overhead

So I got a call now saying bottem line is that they've tested Netlimiter and it doesn't record as much Data as they record. They are sending there findings to me now and therefor I can look at it but bottem line is I must pay for the data out of bundle.

So basically what they are saying is that Netlimiter is wrong? Seriously?!?!?

Basically they are right..and netlimiter (and every other service provider) is wrong?

OK...

I wish Neotel could tell us the software they use so that we can install it and save ourselves from being naaied.

Come on this is nonsense and ridiculous from my point of view....
I have contacted them several times with regards to this matter.

I get ignored!!! -- I wonder how many other customers are fighting with Neotel.

I would rather let Neotel throttle us at a decent speed, and once you reach a certain amount of data get charged. Like a soft-cap of 20 gig at speeds of 50 KB/s

First thing is first.

They do not send out daily reports on usage, telkom always sent out daily reports regarding usage. I am very disappointed that Neotel, have been spending millions on advertising but cannot put money a side to budget for at least R50 grand to develop a system in place where clients can log on and check their current usage or at least when you reach your last 1 gig sent out a warning.

Are we living in the year of 1920's - I do not think so..

LOAD MRTG STATS Neotel!!!!!!!!!

I am going to lodge a complaint..
FYI!

Every telco, by regulation can only bill an event if they have a fully qualified record for that event. It is a consumers right to query this; hence you may ask for an item by item count of this. If this cannot be provided to you, you have every right to sue the telco; but at that point most telco's will not bother and reverse the charge.

Overheads in data records come from mobility management mainly; and this is a matter of configuration on the network as to the billing source; if you a telco chooses to bill data from a legacy switch(fixed line) ,SGSN(GSM), PDSN(CDMA); these records will definitely have overheads.

If the billing source is a firewall, AAA accounting records, gateway router logs these donot have overheads.

It is very unlikely that a Telco will chance this...

I got hold of my logs..
Just one message to a friend on skype and in 2minutes he had the log.

Will upload the log and share with u :)

I still asked him what program they use he just told me it's real time and sometimes the AAA can duplicate things. .

Generally all our ISPs seem to be guilty of this heavy handedness.

I am the paying customer, I have paid and they (ISP) have given me a cap. But I don't control how that cap is used up, they do. What the ISP decides to bill or subtract is right.

If I download a 100MB file they will bill me more than that. It is misleading.

What about some customer focus? Call it a 2.8GB cap and at least I know that I will get 2.8GB on my HDD and my NetLimiter will tell me exactly how much I have used and how much is left.

This whole bandwidth charging is just a scam anyway. A Telco network (copper, fibre, DSLAM, Exchange switch, etc) does not get 'used up' faster if there more traffic going through it. It is not like a DSLAM that has no traffic through it will last forever. It will still be old after 10 years.

+1

You know the sad thing...South Africa invented the concept of the data cap. We are to blame for this!!

Great Success!!!

Good Day Mr. *******

I have taken this up with my superior yesterday and it was agreed we will provide you with a good will service credit for the additional data usage

As we could not timeously provide the data usage to you, an because you remain as a valued customer to us.

I will put the request through and provide you with the credit amount. Apologies for delay in feedback I was to have given this feedback to you yesterday.

Many Thanks

This was my Only issue with Neotel, now I am a happy Customer!

Ok, good for you. How will they prevent this from happening to customers that are not on unlimited?

They told me that they will be implementing a online data usage checker as well as sending out e-mails until its up. But we'll see.

Sounds great hope this gets implemented asap.
Congrats on getting your issue sorted :)

All we can do is wait & see. I'm so tired me waiting.

Yeah I got over-billed lodged a support ticket and guess what they are ignoring me at all cost.. Even my Du Meter states I have not used more than 3 gigs but on their system states I have used 10gig. How can that be possible ?

I am going on the 3rd week now with this over billing issue and it seems no progress is being made

Almost at the point of just giving up.

I don't see how anyone on a capped account can accept this. I was waiting anxiously for coverage but am thinking I should perhaps just give in and get ADSL.

I wonder what will take longer... resolving this issue or getting coverage in my area?

Just talked called billing support again, probably the 15th time this month and to my frustration I had to log the query again.

It would seem that all my emails and queries just don't seem to get to the right department or they are ignoring it.

I am pretty much out of ideas on how to get this issue sorted, since calling multiple times a day didn't help and giving them some time also didn't help.

All of this is creating a seriously bad impression of Neotel......

watching this thread and the HelloPeter posts with interest.

To the Neotelbot out there: Neotel has to sort out this data measuring issue.

Some may be tempted to consider it theft or fraud to charge for 10Gig (for example), and only supply 3Gig....

Neotel has not explained why there can be such a big difference when those who are complaining did not have such a problem measuring traffic on ADSL and other connections? (or is Neotel traffic sent by mysterious packets that's only visible to Neotel's own software???)

Are others on the forum also testing their usage?
