Neotel charges for data delivery overhead

Seriously I was promised a call back and guess what Neotel up to now have not bothered to give me a call at all.... After re-submitting another ticket.

I am starting to think they are ignoring these issues in hope that we just give up and upgrade to unlimited.

The other option is canceling which is exactly what I am going to do if I am over billed again, I have been watching my connection with a hawk eye and its at 1.8gb now, going to take it to 2gb and then use 3G till the bill comes.

Hopefully there won't be anymore surprises.

And Neotel are bladdy expensive. I remember on Telkom they would send out notifications of bandwidth usage.

I might consider going to cancel and go back to Telkom again.

Agree 100%, I am paying close to R1000 every month so far for 2.5g at sub 150kbps speed, which is daylight robbery.
The tech department is just as useless as billing, I logged a speed and packet loss problem over a month ago.
I even sent daily speed and latency reports to the a technicians personal email for 4 days.
At one stage I was at a blazing fast speed of 27kbps  Dial up is faster.
I got 1 reply and it was they are working on it.

Even if I upgrade to sort the billing issue then the technical issues are still there.
+600 errors received in connection status, 20-30% packetloss, 150kbps on a good day.

Hi

I've had netlimiter on my pc for a while and decided to give it a try. Guess what? It's also out by a small margin using virgin mobile as my isp.

heres a link :

Conduct this test again and refresh the stats right before you take the screenshot, there is a discrepancy between system time and stats generated time.
Also change the Netlimiter stats readout to bytes.

On a side note 232,407 bytes does not equal 232 kilobytes, it is 226.96kb sent and 809.66kb received.(1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte)
That is a difference of 15.55kb on sent and 88kb on received

Now lets assume your data is correct, on your total data transferred 1036.62kb vs Netlimiter 933.07kb, 103.55kb is missing.
Using RichardG's example on 3gb used charged 10gb, 7gb difference.
According to your data that is 299.68mb on 3gb of data used, it's a pretty big leap going from 300mb over to 7gb.
No one ever said Netlimiter is perfect but it is flat out ridiculus to assume Netlimiter somehow missed 7GB of data.

I have netlimiter, du meter, bandwidth monitor pro and various other bandwidth control tools. I went over something like 7 Gigs, and I only started using Neotel again last week and noticed my 10 gigs has vanished once again. :( had someone send me my log :(

Oh well next year January will be a sad month to cough up for extra bandwidth used, but going to cancel and go back to telkom, as I use local traffic more often for majority of things like posting :)

I have warned you all before that Neotel is bad and a rip off, but you ignored the warning. Read the fine print and one more warning they are 40 % more expensive than Telkom. Watch out, and take note, as much as you all hate Telokom it is time to use your head and note that Telkom will always be better. They are not stupid. Read their websites carefully. They have vastly more to offer than any operator. I do not work for Telkom, but use major services from them. I have used Neotel for the past 18 months on International traffic and their quality and service is poor. Watch out they will over charge you.

Neotel do not force clients to complete the 24 month contract like telkom does - if you aren't sattisfied just inform them in advance that you intend to leave.

Also do not use netlimiter as only referance. Because you have seen it isn't completely accurate and could maybe just cause more anxiety and stress for the technicians at neotel than is nessicary.

Total Bull..

Telkom do not enforce the 24 months contract. I KNOW...
Neotel with there 24 month contract allow u to cancel but expect you to pay R80 for the brick. I hear you have seven days to return. I complained with in 2 days, they promised the word and that they would get back to me etc etc etc... 3 months later and I'm still waiting. now to cancel because i did not do it within the 7 days i have to pay for the device..

Yes and they over charge like crazy. Compare to VC 3G on net meter they over charging by 5 x over.. But Hey to those who have unlimited internet (because they don't have a life or whatever) good luck to you. The rest who don't sit on the internet all day and have a capped service.. well were are being screwed by NEOHELL... Cheers and good luck to u all.

Even if your gripes are valid stupid comments like that will get you no repsect here.

Agreed, Lots of People use things like download managers and torrent clients so that we dont spend our time in front of the PC

back on topic: are these measuring issues still unresolved?

It' important since it's been reported that Neoflex data-only will not have an unlimited option.

Still unresolved here.

26 days since I first lodged a ticket, no call back.
7 days since I relodged it, still no feedback.

I've finally received my first invoice (November) since starting with Neotel in August. And they have charged me for 5760Mb on a 5000Mb account of which I know I used less than 4000Mb (I'll post exact amount when I get home today). This is completely ridiculous. I'm about to blow a fuse.

EDIT: I use DU meter to monitor my bandwidth
