Neotel consumer tariffs revealed

Patience dude. If they had to offer wired services we would wait another few years.
 
not a bad start. those free minutes won't help much if you not calling anyone but neotell network. for a extra 170 you get almost double the speed and cap, but for some people 386 is fast enough it seems.
 
I think this is a reasonable offer for ordinary consumers. I spend about R450 on Telkom each month for a 2GB cap (OK its closer to 4GB) and a 384 line. I normally get capped just before the end of the month and spend another R60 for an extra GB.

So for an extra R100 I get a decent speed and double the bandwidth. For most people speed is not the issue, throughput is and this meets this need.

My decision to go with Neotel or not will be based on two factors 1) reception at my house and 2) latency in World or Warcraft.
 
Pricing is good. I really don't like capping though. 10GB is still just 10GB, but a lot better than nothing. Hopefully at some point when the undersea cable lands, they'll finally offer us uncapped. I think it's a fair starter product, and I don't mind using it until they roll out fibre and cable to our houses. I'll make a proper decision when they go live in Cape Town.

Can anyone explain 1000 free on-net voice minutes? Is that 1000 minutes any time to a local cell phone? International calls? WHAT IS ON-NET - NEOTEL ONLY? I.E. to start with, you will get NO value whatsoever from it until your friends and neighbours are on it? So for a regular place with a monthly call usage bill of R350, your bill will be more like a grand on Neotel (call charges to mobile providers and telkom are not very different)?

I don't think that's a good start personally. It's gonna take time to wean people off Telkom unless you give them significant savings on phone calls too.

R599 - bit too steep for my liking ill stick with my R299 uncapped 64k for a little longer untill the price [if ever] drops :(

Neotel only. I see no free minutes after hours or any offer. At the moment I mainly phone in the evening and I have unlimited calls then, so they need to come up with something there.
 
This initial offering targets a specific segment of the market, but there will be many more flavours available soon Neotel pointed out. Mittal said that Neotel will launch a variety of new packages - some significantly cheaper while others will be more expensive – in May during its commercial launch which will be wider in scope.

get rid of that free call crap and give me 10GB at R300! :mad:

....I wonder how much the device costs to connect to neotel.

Soal Fixed (static) IP : All-in-1 's might cost R1500 for the router setup fee, but there after its only R499 p/m for 15G unshaped and R59 p/g once initial 15G's are used up.
 
I am in two minds about this offering:

It is good if:
- The 10Gb is international unshaped bandwidth!
- The true speed achieved is at least 2 Mbps
- Easy installation and no setup cost.
- VOIP is not shaped in any way, that would enable calls when online instead of using Neotel's offering.

At least it is happening and in comparison it looks good.

You'll only get about about 300KB/s DL speed not 2.4Mbps

I'm on 384 kbps now anyway, so that sounds good to me. Only problem is the high price (R599). I only pay R372 at the moment for line rental + doBroadband level 2. This gives me 4GB bandwidth and 20GB local.

If they can knock R200 off their price, I'd be happy to port.

Yea, Half the speed drop the free calls make it about R300 and you have a deal! :D will just have to DL 5 - 7 GB's of int stuff when I change from uncapped :p

Yeah, the only calls I ever make are the ones to customer support. And those are free anyway. The rest is all E-Mail and IM. They can definitely drop the SMS's too - that's what my cellphone is for. :rolleyes:
 
The Neotel website is still NOT updated. Will be nice to see some product info and T&C's.
