That's like complaining about a product existing that you never plan on using. If you don't want Neotel because it's unshaped, then don't get it. Many do want it, however, who are the people who are going to use it.
 
ICASA- the toothless dog- maybe now that our beloved Telecoms minister is on her way out (lets all pray for it) someone who knows something about the internet will be appointed.

AFAIK Vodacoms Out of bundle rate is a whopping R2,00!

The Internet is a series of Pipes, not just a big truck you can dump things on!
 
Are we still on this subject, come on Neotel are cheaper than any other provider out their in the market even for UNCAPPED at R460 per month with telephone line rental included it's the most cheapest

One would hope 1024, the point being, you go and try buy 1MB of prepaid data from WebAfrica for 6.8c.

If you went over your cap by 1MB, You are not forced to buy 1GB. Therefore Neotel just saved you R69.82!

  • I think it is unfair to compare the NeoConnect Prime package to any Telkom ADSL product. First of all, it is a wireless service, not a wired service, so it should be more expensive than ADSL. Much rather compare it to Vodacom 10GB for over R2000 or the even more expensive out of bundle rates.

Certainly this is only the first of many products, and one I believe is more aimed at the wireless market than ADSL.

How many people does unshaped really make a difference to? I'm sure the actual cost of providing shaped vs unshaped bandwidth isn't reflected in Telkom's pricing anyway, its just monopolistic pricing so that doesn't mean much.

It may be a wireless service but its marketed as a fixed line replacement service. I can use Voda/MTN HSDPA anywhere in the country, with Neotel I'd be limited to one geographical area and have to carry a huge phone around, its hardly a mobile service.

To be fair the WA data does roll over so its not as if you lose it.
 
Meh, even if you give these people completely free internet they will still find something to complain about...
 
i for one think neotel is fine for most home users. ok the device is k@k, we all know that. no ethernet is probably the most stupid thing ive heard of in this day and age, and as for the voice or data but not at the same time thing thats just retarded as well.

however, overall i think the service is fine. just wish their cheap uncapped option had a bit more than dial up speed on it. like make it 384k at least or something. now that i would jump at. well if they ever launch in durbs that is.
