Although the first consumer rates for data from Neotel is not the cheap bandwidth everybody hopes for, I think it is way too early to judge.
A few points:
- Assuming it is unshaped, it is a little bit cheaper.
- With all the infrastructure changes in the pipeline, I would be surprised if costs don't come down in the future. Before those changes you can't expect too much.
- I think it is unfair to compare the NeoConnect Prime package to any Telkom ADSL product. First of all, it is a wireless service, not a wired service, so it should be more expensive than ADSL. Much rather compare it to Vodacom 10GB for over R2000 or the even more expensive out of bundle rates.
Certainly this is only the first of many products, and one I believe is more aimed at the wireless market than ADSL.
