Neotel divulges subscriber figures

Guys, jeez i know we all want neotel to crush telkom and make it bleed so badly that it dies a horrible horrible death but give them a chance - Its been three months!

Give these guys a chance to prove themselve. I rate by the end of the year, we will see a massive change/improvement. Vodacom/MTN/Cell C and even telkom did not have the whole country covered within three months did they?

Its been more than 3 months China ;) Taking into account their launch date is on no consequence - they've had years to come up with offerings that should be suited to the market and should have had customers flocking to them.

Stuff like:

is a load of BS, as their extensive research is seriously lacking when they can't grasp the idea of having a device with an ethernet port.
Also who wants to be dragged back to the days of dialup? Seriously - Can't surf the web and make a call at the same time?

Eish - so tired of repeating myself on this subject... :(

Oh and once again the minimilastic ad battle ensues - when reading the article, a TI banner is flashing with all its might on the top :p

I reckon that the introduction of an ethernet CDMA device with no phone functionality (ie. just an internet device) might result in a more impressive uptake than a USB phone.

Agreed. Won't touch them until then.

300 customers, what a joke, hopefully that'll force them to bring out more competitive packages.

Maybe those were the only people they could find who wanted a USB phone...

Give these guys a chance to prove themselve.

They already spoke volumes with the useless USB phone and no concurrent voice and data

A simple post on this forum asking "Would you like a USB or ethernet phone" would have kicked their "extensive research"'s bee-hind.

Sigh - I too am tired or repeating myself. It is as if I am talking to Telkom.

Very true... :o

It seems the only debate that keeps this sub forum active is the bitching aspect ;)

Come on Neotel, I sincerely hope you guys are taking a look around here and making adjustments accordingly...

True... It IS a 100% increase after their launch and no advertising whatsoever...

601

I don't think I'm included in their 601 count because I applied and it's now been 168 hours since my application and I still haven't received my device...

Some problem between Neotel and Postnet.

I guess there's always Telkom 512kb if things don't work out.

B.

And their lam-ass forum rep run away. Come on Neotel you must have one good techie who can represent you here! (And he can not be to busy with 601 customers)

Amen to every point made here so far, and if Notel actually used both the collective braincells that seem to be present there, they might have had 10x that amount of customers. (that's 6000, Neotel. Oh sorry, 6010 actually)

Well, I like repeating myself about this, and will be doing so until Neotel stop publishing lies and bullsh*t, and actually uses some brain-power.

Neotel could have already had Telkom running scared, and thousands of "more than willing" ex-Telscum clients... but no, let's rather be stupid, eh Rajeev Sinha?

I would have thought the count of subscribers would be included into the daily management reports.

I have 2 explanations for them only releasing April's figures:
1. A headcount takes quite a while
2. Maybr they have a lack of human resources (fingers, toes etc.) in the company to count further.

Who knows?

lol. It can take months to walk down to an Accounts Department and ask "how many stamps did we buy for our invoices this month?"

Hopefully they don't buy stamps for customers who receive their bill through email. :D
So theoretically they have 300 - 600 customers who receive their monthly bill vai snail mail.

Considering that they have never advertised anywhere, I'm surprised they have any subscribers at all. Most people I have talked to have never even heard of Neotel.

At this point i dont care if it was only 602, the fact is their tech is better then my current hsdpa and if i can get a more reliable connection then ive currently got im happy. U are not bound to a 24month contract (only the hardware which amounts to R1900) and that is a cost im happy to absorb if neotel goes tits up. Come on 10gig for R499/pm with 600 subsribers compared to 499 for 2gigs with 100 000s on vodacom, for me its a no brainer.

But you will have only coverage in JHB CBD:rolleyes: No mobility at all. What if you want to work from the beach?

I knew from the get go that the modem was meant as a "fixed" connection and wasnt as mobile as 3g. My needs arent for a "mobile" connection and sadly atm i cant get a proper fixed line and i already have coverage in my area, so next week ill be subscriber 603.

I'm only worried that, switching from ADSL to Neotel will be bad because of my online gaming... I wanna still play games online eh!

Good luck! Please come and give us some feedback number 603.
