Neotel launches consumer services

Just tried to order the 2.5Gb and it is probably only going to be available tomorrow...
Also no Coverage map as yet as it is apparently "Real Time".
My are is not covered so have to wait and see what happens, maybe they will have a router by the time I am covered...
As for comparative, price does not come into the equation if they can deliver, so far I am on a 8 month wait for my ADSL from Telkom!!!!
So if Neotel can deliver in a shorter time period I am in!
 
this is awesome news. only problem is it's for 24 months. Anyway it's a great step in the right direction. If I was staying SA I would get it right now without even thinking twice about. As everyone else has said, finally an uncapped solution as a good speed! FINALLY!

I got caught out with that when I first had Telkom ADSL. Subsequently cancelled, now waiting for Neotel to hit CPT! Even still have time to get feedback from you guys..

You can get adsl for < R199 including VAT; line rental isn't included, admittedly, but as I say most people upgrading from dial up have a telkom line already and will want to keep it. Of course it all depends what market segment you're looking at, but if I think of my parents being somewhat average in this regard, their options are:

1) Keep telkom line, get 1Gb 384 adsl - cost about R320
2) Keep telkom line, get neotel 2.5Gb, faster than 384 - cost about R520
3) Ditch telkom line, get neotel only - cost R399

The obvious option for them is option 1. Option 3 has included minutes, but at least at first these won't be so useful since they're on-net (and then you could compare with the Closer options, which are even more favourable towards telkom). Obviously this doesn't hold true for the whole market, but I suspect most 'ordinary' (i.e. non-myBB members) are more worried about cost than caps and speed.

Guess I was looking at it from my view. Where the difference between R320 and R399 is 2 days of petrol consumption to work and back!
 
Now I'm confused, I phoned the number for coverage in Sunninghill and they said it's not available but the coverage map document in another thread includes Sunninghill.

Partial coverage. The document states my area is covered, but when I called them earlier this month, got 3 different answers from 3 ppl, because of partial coverage.
 
as i have mentioned before, the possibility of getting out of the 24 month contract for a nominal fee monthly makes it very exciting wouldnt you say? i still maintain that at least they are going this route. try get out of a "dobroadband" contract or any cellular one........

I would have preferred to have an R80 per month contract with month-to-month add-ons.
