Neotel Lite Speed Report

Thanks Kasbah

He's right, according to RSSI's the measurements named give the variations in the capability, but we still dont solely depend on this info for feedback and measurments.

Yep Skype works on NeoConnect Lite, audio is ok, video very laggy.
I just recently started using the Skype plugin in Pidgin and must say that seems to work a bit better than Skype on it's own.

@gdiza
Yeah it's ok, speeds have been good lately and service has been reliable.

My only complaints are the R3800 that Neotel deducted out of my account last year December without my permission and still haven't gotten it back and the 7 months re-inbursement for zero service. Hugo is of course full of **** and his time will come, every dog has it's day.

Charge of theft was laid, lawyer is on it.

Afternoon Kasbah.

I have just sent you a mail confirming the credits were passed on the 1st of March.
Please advise further requirements to that on mail.

Hugo

Hi Guys

New over here and enjoying the input. I am on Neoconnect Lite and i have been having very slow downloads. I called Neotel and was told to run a speed test on speedtest.neotel.co.za

I was told to expect inbetween 50-100kb download speed. I got 16 :( last night.

I called back this morning, after the usual "Did you reboot you PC" question :wtf:, which i managed to answer without any vulgarities,....I was told that i need to switch the unit off, take the battery out wait awhile and then switch it on again. The unit is at home so i can only try it after work, my question is...has anyone tried this and has it worked?

Also, I am connecting to base station 248 in rosebank, is anyone also experiencing slow speeds at this location(Rosebank/Killarney/illovo)?

forgot to mention that i am getting a RSSI of 84....

Welcome to myBB gram :)

Seems there were data issues late last night and all through this morning, it seems to be fixed now.. been stable for the last 5 minutes and back to normal.

To be honest when calling into support they have told me to do the same they have told you.
It seems that is a standard procedure to run through when having technical difficulties, although that is not a solution when the problem is to do with Neotel's network.

Thanx Kasbah

Did a speedtest while I had Neotel on the other line. It took so long the guys says he rather send a techie over as there is definitely a problem :(

Gonna see what happens...

You just need to get the best signal you can, you said your RSSI was 84, which is a little too high.
Have you tried moving around to see if you get better signal quality elsewhere ?

If you still cannot improve your signal quality from your location I would look into getting a Yagi Antenna for the Light Device.

I have experienced tower overlap aswell as poor signal quality in the past, it took a Yagi antenna and Tower Engineer to get that fixed.

Best of Luck

Ok I give up...

I spoke to a neotel techie and he says that there is no way I can inprove the speed. It seems that 16-25kb download speed is the best I am ever gonna get. There is nothing wrong with my device and my signal strenght and coverage is exellent. He says that I should just swallow it for now until the service improves or prime is offered in my area.

Methinks it is time to cut my losses and find a better service provider.

On NeoConnect Lite your maximum device download speed is 153kb/s (18.6 kB/), anything hovering around the 14/15/16/17 kB mark is spot on with good signal.

If you are getting between 16-25 kB, then great stuff :-) , if you are getting 16-25kb (1.9kB - 3kB) then you obviously fall out of the reception area or have poor quality signal.

If you are not willing to or cannot meet the radio signal requirements i.e an additional antenna or amp, look at a fibre based package or an alternative as you seem to need moar speed!

Methinks it is poor quality signal...I am about a kilometer from the tower in Rosebank, @ 16-25kb (1.9kB - 3kB) my browsing experience is very slow...

Thanks again Kasbah

Hehehe Check what we're getting with wireless :)

Down: 1492.5 KBps
up: 908.4 KBps

oh and this is NOT with Neotel

Hi Hugo

How u doin'?

I am on the Neoconnect Lite Unlimited, and I am in Killarney. I was never expecting something superfast, but i was hoping to surf adequately and have at best the minimum download speed (50-75)...

I would be grateful for any advice or assistance...

Thanx
