Neotel NeoFlex tested

Rehaw! This is awesome news Neotel!
Now, coverage, pricing and no-cap? :)

You've hit the nail on the head. I want to know about pricing and coverage too, but MOST importantly, is there a CAP? I exceed my 30 GB local with Telkom every month (on a 3GB Int. with 30GB local account). If I can't do this with Neotel, then I still won't move over to them. If their offering is uncapped and there is coverage in my area, I'm there in a flash!!! :D

I used the device the whole day and apart from a few slow periods the service performed well. I am used to DSL 4 Mbps and the user experience is not too much different. Downloads came down fast and torrents were no problem (tested on some legal content of course ;) ).

Initially the service will only be available on contract, but Neotel is working on a prepaid model. The advantage of the Neotel contract is that it is really a best of both worlds contract: You can cancel at any time and then only have to pay for the device. So there is no real advantage of paying for the device up-front.

I have heard this too, but was told Neotel was keeping this info hush.

It is so great to finally see the shoots of competition coming through at last.

Awesome awesome awesome +1 ...but why does neotel have like the worst website in the world? seriously its not to much to want to see their coverage now is it? Maybe its there and I just didn't see it...neotel if u read this please consider re doing that confusing thing u call a web page

It was reported that they had covered CT and Durbs in Jun allready, so how hard could it be to update their coverage map. It only shows Joburg coverage WTH???
If they want to expand their consumer base, they should at least keep their site professional and up to date:mad:
On what local server did you get 60ms latency, coz then this is great news for NeoFlex's gaming capabilities:cool:

I second the latency bit...this is most NB for me for both gaming and VPN.

I am moving at the end of this month and I have filled in the Telkom form to change address but I haven't handed it in yet because I may just change to Neotel with this offering if pricing and latency is good. I need good latency!!! neeeeeeeed!!!!! :D

Coverage shouldn't be a problem because I will be right on top of a hill in Constantia in full view of the area.

OK, let me rephrase - some of us are grown ups WITH girlfriends/wifes to the games we play are a bit different that your internet solitiare deathmatch :D

Some of us are grown up's, with girlfriends/wives, who play games together with our girlfriends/wives, as you do, but also a few others which redefines and compliments certain aspects of being grown up so nicely. ;)

Too all of the people wanting better latency - not really gonna happen on a wireless network. So enough already :p ( I feel your pain okes)

Latency will only improve with a fixed line offering or perhaps WiMax - I know of Norm! (forumite here) who plays America's Army with no hassles on WiMax.

When will this product be launched? It is nearly the end of the month & my MTN bolt on data bundle will expire soon.
