Neotel network speed degradation update

Can anyone tell me if I will be able to share the connection.

I am currently using a 3G connection and sharing it with Windows Internet sharing.

According to the Neotel lady I will not be able to do this with neotel lite or prime and will have to get neoflex for internet sharing and get an additional contract to have telephony services.

Can I skype over neotel?

Can I use dyndns and use TS on it?

Yes, I have NeoConnect Lite and have enabled ICS and am even sharing through my router.

Yes you can but quality depending on upload speed, audio without video works fine for me. Also check Here for more info.

I use the dyndns dnses for my primary and alternative.

TS as in TeamSpeak ?, if so I don't see reason why not.

PS: Incorrect Thread for these Questions, please search through the Neotel Section for more answers if needed.

Upload remains at 6kB but my download is still half of what it used to be at the best of times. I have made approximately 40 calls within the last 5/6 months now and last call I indicated that I was not happy paying for an uncapped account but only able to download an average 1-2gigs for the last 5-6 months, now another Trouble Ticket relating to my usage has been opened to investigate my usage en lieu for credit on my account.

Hey Guys

I'm just wondering.....I'm keen get a faster connection to the net, I'm on a telkom 384 package right now and I'm looking for more oomph cos I'm quite an active downloader......here are my specs

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I had to change to the Neotel 10G package if I'd get better speeds......I am trying to look around the net to find out what that studff means but its all pretty complicated so if anyone could whittle it down to laymans term i'd appreciate it!!! thanks!!

Neotel:

If you live in Durban, everythings OK. You'll get great speeds and pings.

If you live in joburg: It only works half the time. If your in a good area, then no problems. But thats only about half the time.

If you live in CT, don't bother.

Well i'm in CT and quite frankly I'm getting very descent speeds. 220kB/s down and 50-70kB/s up.

NeoFlex Data users with VOIP

Hi there

Is anyone in the morningside area (Jhb) using NeoFlex data and using a SIP voip provider over it? Interested in usability etc.

Thanks

NEOTEL SUCKS

Well my speed has gone.... I be lucky if i get 100kb download at the moment. Been like this for a week now and I will only get a techy from NEOHELL(Neotel) next week Tuesday the earliest.

Ain't it funny if you skip a payment they will blacklist you immediately and serve you with warnings. If they fail to deliver..... Oh it is a network problem and we are working on it. They could be worse than the Government.

Just look at all the complaint's people have made...

Oh by the way I am from the Durban and the Neotel coverage sucks even though it says excellent on their site.
:sick:

Ooops, bits and bobs are a little mixed

21.25kB == 0.17mb
86kB == 0.688mb
1/5th of 86kB == 17.2kB
I'll stick with agentrfr's conversion accuracy for now ;)
Check yourself

I can't exactly figure it out either, RSSI is good at 76 hardly any interference but yet at certain times in the day and at night download speeds swing down.
I have also noticed since my "Tower upgrade" I am getting more frequent disconnections and freezing despite using Neoping in conjuction with a mIRC ping script. At random times speeds are very satisfactory.

Nope, its Mb/s not MB/s. Lets do the maths. 0.17*1024 = 174.08kb/s /8 = 21.76kB/s, okay so its 1/4 of yours, not 1/5. Sue me :P

my speed today:

Download Speed: (54.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: (25.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'm gonna eventually catch up with you at this rate
