Ninex, I'm so jealous. I spend my days under 20kb/s. Why do I live in Kenilworth anyway, maybe I should move to Gardens. This is the fast part of the day and it's on 55kb/s. I'm calling Telkom and Axxess today. Why don't you just leave, Agentrfr? Money?

Out of interest clotho, I also live in Kenilworth area, so I presume we connecting to the same tower (PN 36). Has your signal also dropped alot?
Mine was mid 70's, its now lucky if its on 85, but seems to hover around 90.

I cant have ADSL in my area, which is a main reason for the wireless. I already have an iburst modem, which works great for low latency. When neotel works, I do get 210kB/s, which is great. Im just choosing to stick it out, becasue i really do not have any other option...

By the way, neotel is still offline. Tower 300 doesnt work and 320 is completely dead. At least I can use the phone on tower 300...

I'm connecting to tower 304 and getting 3 bars and 13kb/s. Have you tried changing your antenna direction?

@MDE: Has your signal dropped alot recently (past few days, since that huge storm I think). Or dont you notice having that antenna?

@busker: nope signal and RSSI are the same as when i put up the antenna - just slow and sometimes stagnant connection - have to restart or if that doesnt work then pull plug and battery and hard restart.

Recieved a e-mail from a techincal person from neotel saying there has been alot of complaints and they are currently drawing up a plan to do maintenance on the whole network and they also said they preparing for SEACOM.

U know at this rate we coulda all pooled our monthly payments together and bought our own ****ing seacom.

Nice MDE, I guess I'll hold off buying an antenna then, hope this all comes to be soon. Though I have exams to keep me busy for the next 3 weeks, so should be alright!

Hey, Neotel Rep, I have an idea :D
Ok ok, here it is. Maybe, if possable and your feeling extra nice/influential/sympathetic to our (that being us oaks in Olivedale/Bryanston) cause, could you please include tower 304 in your next vallient expedition to rid the world of low speeds :D?

Also, I can post regular updates on speed and RSSI, it might help some other oaks and what they can expect. Oh and I'm perfectly willing to sacrifice tower 304 for a day or two during the week or weekend if your guys are crawling around inside it welding cables and what not. I'm sure everyone else would do the same :p

So hows about it heh :D?

agentrfr you posted the above on the 9th of March and we both know that tower 304 is slow as ***k. They're obviously not interested in fixing it and I happen to connect to it every single ***king day  I think I'll have to consider getting Telkom Wimax because things are just getting worse; now down to 9kb/s

Well looks like the Wynberg Tower in CT is back up and running...get 340kB/s down and 80kB/s up taken at 8:51pm

Its bs hey. Tower 320 is still off and it was the one that I was happy with. What did they go and do to turn it off??? WTF!?!

Phoned them yesterday and they said they'd get a techie on it. Nothing has happened yet. Not cool.

Oh and btw im getting same speeds as you.
