Neotel versus Telkom

Its looking good (ignoring neotel to neotel rates). If only the access speed was faster than 156kbps

Can you use a fax machine with this phone? I have been wanting to ask this question for a while now.

Nope, but there are plenty of free fax to email services. If you need to send faxes; email to fax services aren't too pricy.

It's a pity about the data rate. 156 Kb/s is just too slow. At least it's a step in the right direction though.

The thing I am most curious about is how the **** does neotottie offer cheaper calls to a Telscum phone than Telscum does?

There is one place where Neotel is substantially more expensive than Telkom...

011 to 012 for Neotel is regional whereas Telkom is pretty much local.

So if most of your calls are inter-area you could end up spending a bit more.

If only they had a device which did not drop internet when on a voice call

I don't think that CDMA allows for that, so its not down to the device. I may be wrong, so don't take my word for it, but I recall reading that here...somewhere.

Certainly is a step in the right direction - the comparison clearly shows that overall Neotel's rates are the better.
Just the usual list of complaints to go with them; contract, coverage and perhaps speed - but we all knew what the speeds were going to be like a year ago.

I'll sign up for Neotel..... once they can provide ADSL

The usual complaints...No ethernet, no coverage, free calls to Telkom lines(like Closer packages?) and dropping internet for calls....otherwise their prices are very competitive.

Im waiting for Neotel to show us their true colours once the SEACOM cable lands ...

Didn't those things die out with shoulderpads and bad hair back in the 80's ?

My thoughts exactly..
No fixed line, no Neotel.
Fixed line is sooooo 80's.... 1880's to be exact. Fix wireless is much more environmentally friendly and I am sure one day they will build a giant snow machine that can spit out more spectrum in a sec.
