Neotel versus Telkom

In the "Basic Charges" Table... Whats a "Mostly Service Cost"?

Okay, that sending a FAX problem is unacceptable.
I cannot believe that you cannot put a fax machine on that line, Faxing is verrry much part of small business' life.

True, but perhaps you should try this new thing called email. I hear big businesses and corporates use it, perhaps you can grow your business by using email ?

Another case of bad reporting. Please compare apples with apples and not pears. You need to compare the Neotel internet with Telkom ISDN and not dialup. Big price difference and QOS.

But at least the call comparisons are great. Considering of getting my wife a Neotel line for her business to make outgoing calls as this will be much cheaper.

I realize that they are punting the buy the phone upfront option and no contract for the basic packages... can you do the same and go take the R999 package too with no contract? Also, I've read somewhere they do credit check on you and make you pay R1000 upfront regardless of your credit rating; before they allow you access to their service!...

I'm not really interested in taking a phone device from them but just curious none the less...

You're missing the point. Neotel is targeting the large group of people still stuck on dialup - trying to get them to switch! - Good move! Besides If its under 256k its not considered Broadband!(atleast in South Africa its not considered that)

That's my kind of deal. :p
Keep the muggles out, nothing like a bit of VIP payment upfront.
R1000 is not much, I paid R2000 to join my ISP

1337 !

Neotel to Telkom rates are even cheaper than Telkom to Telkom rates. How the hell does Telkom even stay in business? i lol'd:D
Neotel's pricing has been some of the best competitively priced services launched this year, and for a business still in its growing stages im HIV-positive they will blow telscum out the water come SEACOM. When they launch a comsumer service that can compete with adsl they will slaughter telkom's adsl2+ (and i hope its FTTX:cool:)

I fail to see what your HIV status has to do with Neotel VS Telkom!

Other than that - Welcome to the forum!.

Also a bit confused how Neotel is managing to terminate a call on the Telkom Network at a lower charge than Telkom is able to, bearing in mind the controversy around interconnect fees atm. Either Telkom charge themselves interconnect fees as well or they are even more horribly overpriced than anyone could have imagined.

As far as speed goes, for the average home user i dont think it makes that much difference. I know my inlaws wouldnt care if they were on dial up, as long as it was an always on type of dial up with a fixed monthly charge. so a 100k+ line for them is perfect.

The sad part is that if you take our crime rate and their lightning fast rollout into account im probably gonna be dead before they get near my area and there aint no way im moving intop the center of town for an internet connection.

now if only neotell can cover more , cbd in jhb would be nice for starters....

Dont refer ppl on this post to Neotel,PLEASE!

I appreciate when a business is referred especially when their service is good, but please dont refer them when service is bad. I am a Neotel client and have received the worst of service ever. I have posted on Hello Peter and was surprised how many ppl had received as bad if not worse service than myself. Its a 24 month contract, I am in my tenth day and have spent hours literally on my Telkom phone being transferred from consultant to consultant, believe me, its not right that more ppl are referred. For a new company they are quite sure of themselves, because considering they have competition, I do not believe that the company will make it. Do yourself a favour and just look up Neotel complaints, that will answer and defer you from taking any contractual obligation with a company who DOES not live by their promises! Spare yourself the hassle I and many more ppl have had to deal with!

Trust me, I am a Neotel Client!!! Do not go with Neotel. They offer the worst service ever, and in my tenth day, it still does not work and the usual response that they have escalated the problem, NOT ONE person has ever phoned me back!!! Just look up Neotel Complaints on the internet and you will see countless unhappy clients, even with TODAYS DATE!

Do you know of a company that offers good rates on uncapped, but that is reliable?
