Neotel vs Neotel, version two

I can only say 1 thing to everyone, AVOID NEOTEL LIKE A RASH!

I've even changed my signature!

It's time to spread the word! Enuf said!

Hi SlinkyMike

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I agree that the discussions can often add value where a news article falls short. I really hope Neotel solves the network issues which seem to frustrate users: we really need as much competition as possible.

Hi Gentlemen,

I apologise if my intended meaning was a little vague - I was basically just facepalming at the thought of NeoFail stuffing up even more...

Nothing to do with the forum or news articles at all - I know you have taken some flak recently - this was not my intention.

My personal opinion is that even if the news articles themselves sometimes fall short in certain areas, the discussions they ignite are almost always on point, we should be grateful; consider ourselves lucky and continue to foster a climate in which intelligent discussion takes precedence over repetitive memes and other inanity.

The news articles that are posted are a part of that.

...you asked :)

Is there no rules in the license that they got which enforces that they must provide services to ALL south africans???

But then again, at these "high quality" service levels I'd rather they didn't bother serving me.

Yea, since Neotel is not actively participating on these forums [not seen the rep saying anything in awhile] , this is the only other place to highlight and hopefully "encourage" Notel to respond or do something or actually realise we don't find their service acceptable.

Neotel is probably the main reason why i went straight to Telkom [quite ironic]. It's unbelievable to think Telkom have better systems in place, and i mean -basic- account management systems and helpdesk systems that is lightyears ahead of these guys. ...and at the end of the day Telkom is still cheaper and more reliable ...seriously, how can anyone do business like this?

You know what really take the cake? When Neotel phone me and the line is breaking up with heavy delays between responses which sounded exactly like a slow VOIP connection with horrible voice quality. I tell the guy to phone me on the landline, same thing. Telecoms company who do not have ability to even have a crisp clear phone connection?
I work [technically only one day (Web 12 Nov) left] for the company that needs to provide systems to Neotel that needs to manage these type of functions that you mention.

If I just look at this company, then I can really understand why the systems at Neotel is a shambles, because this company I'm leaving (thank heavens :D) is a joke and really need to learn how to develop software and also do it in time. They need to learn how to manage projects - well they just need to learn to do something right cause they haven't shown a profit for some years so they are even worse than Neotel.

Man I'm glad I quit!!

I think like this:

*Telkom 6 years ago, a bunch of members are sitting around the table talking about their own upcoming demise in the face of being forced to deregulate*

"hey guys" said John, "we are in a situation here where we need to find another way out, we are being forced to 'release' our monopoly and are going to lose lots of business, what do we do?" silence and blank stares throughout the room, until Michael jumped up with excitement. "lets just create another company, lets create the second telecoms leased line provider" said Michael, "then we can make them suck even worse than we do, and that will make everyone happy with us again." The entire board cheer for Michael for he has just saved the day.!

I'm dogged withthe same problems and lately and I've noticed its always after a storm and then I'm stuck with the problem for weeks until the technician resolve the issues. Neotel should be transparent about problems instead being like Telkom..."problem...what problem"
Trust is earned and to earn they need to be more transparent to the consumer instead of dodging the crisis "crisis..what crisis"

hehehehe +1

As was mentioned earlier in this thread...any company with TEL in its name spells trouble!

Telkom and Neotel with its partner Seacom are an embarrassment to South Africa!...along with a few of their friends too!

What makes one think that Neotel would be South Africa's saviour? Lets go back to the root of Neotel's beginnings ( the false democracy called India ). With 80% of the population living in absolute poverty ( worse off than the squatter camps here in SA ), wouldn't it make sense for Neotel to showcase their talent and resolve and fix their own backyard and properly at that, instead of trying to champion SA's cause?

Neotel is a company, first and foremost. They exist to make maximum profit for shareholders with the least associated cost. I don't know how or why they were granted a licence in SA...of course I know the answer, but its just my personal view. Unfortunately, in an emerging market like SA, capitalist ideas will work....until they prove themselves worthy of their own downfall as in the case of the US and UK.

Sometimes in our lives, we all fall victim to one of the seven great sins...for now, that sin seems to be GREED.
