Neotel WiMax progress

interesting...so we assume Neotel have got themselves a test licence and do not seem to be too put off by ICASA's 51% BEE requirement for a full licence....

But this applies to Corps only at the moment

This is a last mile solution for me indicative of telkom not being able to lay

landline cables where i stay and guess what? i stay oppposite the echange no ADSL

Only Wimax access at home

I assume that they are using their 3.5 GHz spectrum - they have around 50 MHz I think.

ah - apologies - of course

they got matching allocations to Telkom's as part of the grant of licence...just remembering their press statement that they also want more

All of that goes out the nearest window when guavamint owns shares in the licensee company - in this case the Neotel...

I'm waiting for the legal challenge from VANS requiring Telkodemonopolies & Neotel to use 20MHz max like the rest of the potential WiMax spectrum licensees...

Neotel will soon start testing WiMax with existing enterprise customers

That's my main issue with Neotel. It is all about the corporates with them. Where is their Cape Town and Durban CDMA coverage?

Good luck trying to get answer from Neotel - they can't even tell when current 'none-coverage' areas in Gauteng and PTA will be included in the ROLLOUT LIST never mind actually get coverage.

I hate to say it, but it seems really sad that Neotel is fast learning from Telkom how not to effectively communicate with potential clients when it comes to services it claims to offer.

I hereby propose that ICASA add a new license requirement to telco operators: Communications companies must learn to communicate with the public openly, honestly and effectively. Annual polls/surveys can be used to determine compliance and any rating below a certain standard must cost the company penalties in revenue for the year in question.

Focus on Customer Service and the rest will fall into place. Focus on profit only and we'll continue to have retarded telecoms growth and poor service delivery for another decade at least :p
