Neotel's consumer packages compared

Well, the unlimited one you get unlimited bandwidth and from my understanding a phone... so count me in...

Can an alarm use the neotel phone to dial out? It requires a telkom line at present. anyone figure this one out yet?

Why is there no side by side comparison with Telkom here? Guys, please show us a similar side-by-side comparison... for example:

Neotel pricing INCLUDES PHONE RENTAL AND ISP CHARGES etc... Telkom with 384 2Gb all inclusive = Analog line rental + ADSL line rental + 2Gb ISP account... total?

Cancellation

Hi,

Does anyone know how much the device actually costs, and the fee you would have to pay if you cancelled. I really hate the whole "contract" they have going.

All I know is that it if you cancel you still pay R80p/m for the device.

I think 156 is too slow, however, having it uncapped makes it seriously worth considering!

can you use a different ISP with your Neotel (2,4 mb/s) account (OpenWeb 30gb maybe?)

What is the point of unlimited bandwidth at a snail's pace? Neotel has no clue.

You should be able to do 50gigs at least and for an odd R400 a month. I think it's worth it.

Don't forget it's unshaped.

Why are people complaining? We still only have the sat3 cable. You can't expect miracles.

Sheesh.

It's about 2 grand, and AFAIK, since you have to get it with a new deal, it's useless if you cancel (i.e. you can't tell them not to bill you for it if you want to go back on contract). It also can't be used on any other network in the country afaik.

Everyone is complaining but for R500pm you get an uncapped 156kbps (so friggin fast =]). If you work at a 75% speed (only taking downloads into consideration), you get a theoretical ~38GB per month. Not too bad for R500pm. And then you get the phone side too.

Pity the hardware is so expensive and if their service suck you're stuck with a R2000 ornament.

Are they going to provide ADSL some time? Would be really cool to get such an ADSL deal where it's uncapped at the same speed.

But in order to get the theoretical 38GB you can't phone at all because you can't phone and be on the Internet at the same time.

Its 50 gig of unshapped international bandwith. Is that not cheap compared to Telkoms R120 a gig unshapped?? You guys just moan for everything. MyADSL has just become a moaners forum, no matter whats on offer its never good enough, we sound like a bunch of cry babies!!

50 gigs?? A theoretical 24/7 online will give you 38 gigs at just faster than ISDN. And then pings are so cr@p that you can't play games. I don't use P2P so if you can't game with the unshaped bandwidth what is the point of unshaped bandwidth.

And I have a feeling in my gut there are probably "fair use" clauses built into the contract to make sure that you are punished if you hit your 38 gigs for a few months in a row...

LOL. Well if there service being offered is not good enough, then we have every right to complain.

Why do you think this forum was created exactly?
