I suspect you will buy a netbook with a pentium 3 processor, 5 inch screen, 250mb HDD and 0cm drop height tolerance if you can get it from some obscure Japanese website with a couple of geisha pictures thrown in as extras.![]()
I wish they would give me an option to get any netbook WITHOUT windows on it. That should drop the price by about R1000
Nice troll except I didn't buy it from Conics. It beats anything available in Europe and here for that matter, and if you are blind to that but have some personal issues here - your post smacks of a personal attack on me - you don't deserve to be on an IT related forum. I actually paid about R5600 for mine, the Conics price is R9000, the benefit of someone actually pre-ordering an item for you in person in a NEC outlet in Akihabara pays off.
Your vitriol notwithstanding, if you could only touch this netbook you'd be agreeing with me and prolly saving up to get one of your own.
Nope, should drop the price by about R300 - R500 maybe. In some cases even only R200 ... remember, these windows licenses are purchased in extreme bulk as OEM's ... by the manufacturer. The price is marginal. I.e. Asus EEE 701 is only about R200 less then the 701CW windows version.
Still, I would prefer that cost going towards better hardware, perhaps adding more ram, instead of terrible software that I will remove but still have to pay for.
What a shocking article...
The quintessential netbook of our time, pretty much the only one that truly embodies what a netbook is, the Acer Aspire One A110L was left out.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist. And vitriol is maybe a bit of an exaggeration.
I'm happy with my Asus 900HA - fits my needs perfectly. And I'm also glad you like yours.
As already pointed out, the research behind this article is awesomely poor - I hope that no-one is getting paid for it. Another point to add to the errors already mentioned is that the Asus 701 with 4 GB SDD and 512 kB memory isn't offered with Windows XP - it only comes with Linux. If you want decent comparisons of available netbooks, www.liliputing.com is good - you'll just have to do your own research on local availability and pricing.
This is a technology forum, you know. Most people should be interested in gadgets and certainly buying from foreign sites to get items not available locally is actually fun - better than talking to some guy in IC and walking away with a vanilla netbook.![]()
Look at the R13K HTC netbook Expansys lists though.... omw! What a rip off.![]()
Nonsense, i bought from incredible
Whats the specs on that A110L at incredible?

We get so screwed in the West with the junk we get and the high prices.

Sies, I thought you were into Macs?
So was it R9k or R5.6k?![]()
Waiting for Pineview to come out next year, then I'll buy a netbook.
