Netflix cracking down on VPN, proxy, and unblocker users

Then these people should probably update their IP with Unotelly et al. Now that we have a local Netflix it will probably default to that when there's any sort of error with Unotelly including an outdated IP address.

In the last few days I've discovered that if your IP address changes without you updating it with Unotelly, Netflix simply stops working completely. It doesn't seem to default to the SA catalogue. If I want to access the SA catalogue I actually have to switch my DNS to my ISP or Google.

At the end of the day I shall have what I want, on my terms, hook or crook

It's not fear mongering, contrary to what people think. Netflix has to say this to keep appearances up for their partners and to honour existing distribution agreements, but the reality is that they know exactly how many people are connecting to their service using VPNs and DNS unblockers - and they want you to do that. They use those statistics and match it up with viewership ratings to see what people in a certain country want to watch, and they end up using this information to target rollouts for new content, or similar content that isn't limited by an existing agreement. They can even show some of this info to their partners and tell them how much more money they'd be getting if they allowed distribution in [X] region.

They do exactly the same thing with torrents. They watch the free and public trackers to see what's getting the most clicks in a particular country, and use that info to secure distribution rights for something that they could serve through their service.

This, if you dont update IP on Unotelly, Netflix cant connect.

Very weird, suddenly since yesterday a friend lost US content on his Apple TV, it reverted back to SA content, but the US content still shows on his Xbox.

Why are everyone's "friends" suddenly having issues, sounds like alot of scaremongering going on. I have not noticed a darn thing on any of my devices.

Sounds to me people who don't actually understand how to use Unotelly/Apple TV/Xboxes are mysteriously having issues and thinking they are blocked.

Also, as the last few posts mentioned, if you experience a disconnect on your router for whatever reason, your IP is going to change (for most normal ADSL users anyway) , if that happens your DNS/Region bypasing stuff will stop working until it is refreshed/re-authenticated to the unblocker service you are using. If this happens while you have the apps open, it will break, it will cause you to lose access to the content and chances are you will revert to the SA library or more likely just get an error. Even if you have all of this automated, it might still take a few mins to get everything back on track, so even for me, if my line is acting up and it D/C from time to time, i get these issues especially if i'm in the middle of watching Netflix...nothing new.
