Netflix ZA Live

I've had US Netflix for about a year now and been subscribed to Showmax since they launched. So far happy with both, impressed by Showmax's content especially the Afrikaans content. Only issue is they still don't have the app on all devices...Currently I use Airplay to my Apple TV to stream. Bit of a pain but it works.

Netflix is cool since there's a native app on the Apple TV and they've got a huge amount of content, however what's interesting is although Netflix US has more content , the local Netflix has some decent movies that the US one don't have, so currently my wife prefers the SA Netflix ( using the 1 month free trail now).

So I might switch to the local one and stop the US subs soon..And keep Showmax for the local content.

I stream via Telkom Mobile LTE Uncapped, and I can stream multiple services at the same time no issue. Much better than my 4mbps ADSL I had...

Can you explain why you're using the Netflix trial for SA and not just disabling whatever method you're using for your Netflix US?

What method are you using btw?

Fwiw all Netflix accounts are "global". They will deliver whatever content is available for the country you're currently in.

I use Unotelly so I get a "USA IP" and hence I can access US content. Using it also for US iTunes

Sure but when you switch unotelly to SA via Dynamo you'll still get iTunes but also SA Netflix. So having two accounts, or cancelling your US account makes little sense to me.

So I can use my US Netflix account to access the SA Netflix? Haven't tried that yet, will see if it works

Absolutely. Unotelly gives you access to a growing number of countries including SA.

I would not use Hola again. They have been known to use your internet connection for DDoS attacks.

You can try zenmate for an alternative or Proxmate. Though not sure if the latter is still free.

Is it my imagination or has Netflix cropped the SA library massively? It seems there is a lot less content now for SA compared to when they launched here. Noticed it Monday when I had to reinstall my sister's Ubuntu which she uses to watch Netflix on her TV. Will set her dnsflix tonight so she can get the American one again. But looking at that SA content it seems really unfair that we pay the same as the Americans do with a library that is really really sparce.

This is the first I'm hearing this.

But then again I've never had a proper look at the SA Netflix library.

There is actually quite a bit more content than at launch but it's mostly very old movies. In terms of series it's a barren wasteland with recent additions being mostly Chinese.

not really Netflix fault - its region based so a lot of the stuff license for SA is owned by Mono choice.

Ok....just seems like there is very little content compared to when I had a look at it when we started. There is like 4 rows of horror movies. :confused:

Anyway, not a biggie ... thank goodness for bypassing methods.
