Netgear DGN2200M v2 keeps resetting

Seems worse now, Internet went off while all the lights were green. Red lights only appeared a while later. This is one of the reasons I took the Telkom D-Link back, did it all the time. Now where's that old trusty big white Siemens...

Check if this is not a power issue first?

I have the Netgear DGN2000N and I am on the 3rd transformer. If I recall the first one that came in the box simply stopped working, but the second one which was replaced under warranty had me stumped a year or so later as it also gave these disconnects as described in this thread. I tried resetting, updating, all sorts of things to get the thing to work properly, in the end a friend gave me a transformer out of an old unused Router box and so far the router has been working fine.

Wow this modem is crap.

After using .41 for a few days I decided to roll all the way back to .27 (which can be found in this directory).

In my experience .31 makes the modem completely unusable and .41 is almost as bad, frequent restarting. Leaving us with the oldest version (.27) which makes the modem manageable.

Rate it's just to just buy a non-Telkom branded modem. Don't know why Netgear allow Telkom to do this to their modems.

Seems I am getting resets every few hours so thinking of returning the router for a replacement one.

Never happened on the old firmware so the new firmware is very buggy wish I could get the old firmware back on anyone got a link to where I can download it?

There's a link in the post above yours :p I had resets every few hours with the old and also the new firmware. At least the new firmware has USB storage support. Anyone tested if it supports newer USB modems?

The new firmware in that link is the one which gave me resets which I hadn't had before

Need the firmware before that or I have to get another free router from Telkom, since I hate the resets.

No, doesn't say. BTW, I recently tested with my old Siemens router that did not have a single reset in two years, and that also resets now - might be a line problem...

Trying the firmware you linked hopefully its the one which didnt give problems :D

No disconnects so far so hope they release a newer firmware which works properly

Still no disconnects so was the right firmware

since the new fw no rest's for me as well mmmmm lets see how the rest of the week goes...

Mine would still reset, not as frequently but enough to break overnight downloads etc regularly.

Ended up taking it back to the Telkom Direct shop and swopping for the branded D-Link DSL-2750U. Not fussed.

Just remember to upgrade the D-Link firmware. I did it, haven't had a disconnect in a while.

Bought proper Netgear Router DGN2200v3 router(not Telkom branded) and problem solved.

I ended taking the D-Link back and swapped it for the Netgear :D The D-Link has the nasty habit of losing the connection while all the lights are still green, neighbours is doing the same. I tried both the Telkom firmware and the D-Link firmware (BTW, they tell you NOT to use it on Telkom branded routers) but to no avail. Perhaps there is new firmware out now that fixes the problem.

Strangely enough, I've used D-link 2750u first and now the Netgear DGN 2200M within the past 30 days or so and both have been/ are doing the disconnecting thing minimum every hour. Both Telkom branded btw, and I updated firmware to latest on the Netgear. With my Netgear modem, it now sometimes even loses sync very half an hour. Reported to telkom a few times, matter gets closed and I get smsed that problem solved without any change after a few days.

I recently got a new Windows 8 machine which was causing my Billion router to reset several times per day. I disabled uPnP in one of the menus and I haven't had a single reset since. Maybe you could try this to see if it helps.

After reading this post I just had to make a post on my experience with this Telkom branded Netgear n300 DGN2200M v2 DSL WIFI router. It has been giving me a pretty good and stable wireless signal to our two cell phones, laptop and desktop by using the up to 300Mbps mode and on channel 6. My firmware is what came with the modem by default, V1.0.0.31_1.0.31. :)
