Netogy Nova Feedback

If I play a 24FPS file will it set my TV to 24Hz mode.
Apparently Plex and Kodi do have a setting to sync the screen to the playback.
As I lack anything over 60Hz screen I can only test that for you. But I suspect you want to know what will happen when you use a 1xxHz screen.

No nothing over 100Hz or anything like that.

I currently have the original Mi Box and when I play a file that's 24FPS it automatically sets the TV to 24Hz.

So when browsing the UI my TV will be 1080P60 and when I play something it will automatically switch to 1080P24.

Edit: I bought it anyway, I'll test after loadshedding.

I am confident you will be very happy with the Nova. The team at Nology put in a LOT of hours into making sure the experience was solid and that the unit is an upgrade over the Ematic AGT419.

I'll fiddle again when my loadshedding ends at 14:00 but my one concern already is the ethernet speed was slow.

I have 100Mbps fibre with 3 devices including the Nova connected to the same hub, one gets full 100Mbps because it's gigabit, the other gets 94Mbps because the 100Mbps port and then the Nova only got 65Mbps.

It's going to be disappointing if the Wi-Fi is faster because the ethernet port was basically the deciding factor.

Edit: Power is back and I am fiddling, streamed a file from my media server and it reached 98.8Mbps and it was extremely responsive, it started to play instantly and skipping back and forth was immediate.

Very impressed so far.

Edit 2: It does not switch refresh rate so I'm just going to pretend not to notice it until Android 12 comes out which has the feature built in.

Ok so this has no dolby vision support, that is a bit disappointing.

Give us feedback if it's any better than Telkom LIT Box
I mean it will be, it's newer. But no Atmos or Vision support so its been put in the lounge, which it will serve it's purpose I guess.

Although not advertised as Dolby Atmos and you won’t see a mention at all, some apps actually do have Dolby Atmos. So the capability/hardware is there - but maybe licensing ?

Netflix, though, isn’t one of the apps with Dolby Atmos.

Netogy Nova is going for R999 on Takealot
I soooooo wanna buy this but in June I bought an Explora Ultra on contract for R89pm

On contract ... :crying:
It would be senseless to buy an Android Box if I already have an Explora Ultra. Don't get me wrong, the Ultra is dope in its own way. But the experience I had with the Telkom LIT Box as my first Android Box was unmatched.

You can do so much more with an Android Box, than you can with the Explora Ultra.

The Telkom LIT Box is a good stable box, albeit, on the slow side. No longer having Netflix can be an issue.

But, yeah, different strokes for different folks.
