Netogy Nova Feedback

You can do so much more with an Android Box, than you can with the Explora Ultra.

The Telkom LIT Box is a good stable box, albeit, on the slow side. No longer having Netflix can be an issue.

But, yeah, different strokes for different folks.

My only issue with the Telkom LIT Box is that it doesn't have Netflix. But besides that, it's a beautiful machine in its own way. Any media Box is a good investment in my books.

It would be a waste of money to buy Netogy Nova when I have a Telkom LIT Box, all because I want to have Netflix? Nah, I rather continue with the Explora Ultra and the Telkom LIT BOX.

You get a decently faster box, with Netflix and AV1 vodec support, which is really useful for YouTube right now, Netflix is also ramping up support for it. As well as other streaming entities.

When pressing power button it powers up Netogy & the Amplifier.
Switching off only the Netogy powers off.
Ematic & Telkom List didn't have this issue.

Buttom Mapper works great with this remote, very convenient to have shortcuts to all the apps I use.

The Live TV button launches Plex, YouTube launches SmartTube and Prime launches Showmax.

No Dolby on the Nova?

I’m sure the box does mention Dolby Sound - regardless, I’ve never used Plex, Kodi or smaller streaming apps. However Netflix & Disney+ was 5.1 sound - and both Apple TV and Prime had Atmos tracks.

I use Apple TV now though, so haven’t used for a while

Just thought I'd mention here that the Nova works perfectly with the Steam link app, just like the Ematic did :)
I also managed to pair my PS5 wireless controllers with it as well to use in conjunction with the app and it works superb. Really enjoying the Nova and the flexibility of the device and well worth the purchase for anyone looking for a decent Android TV box. Highly recommended

I thought they only added support for the Dualsense in Android 12 or is it a Steam Link thing I'm guessing?

I do the same thing but with an Xbox Series controller and Moonlight instead of Steam Link, works amazingly.

My only complaint so far is that the remote comes without batteries.
I wonder why. Seems a small enough thing to include without driving up cost.

I also found the setup quick and easy. This unit replaces the Roku Ultra I had in my bedroom. Already running an Nvidia Shield TV Pro in my lounge.

The unit is small and lighter than the Nvidia, but the software is nippy so it's no slouch in comparison. The remote is decent, but I love the Shield remote.

The unit works well with both wired LAN connections and both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.

All in all, well worth the cost. I paid R899 at TAL on BF special. Only set it up properly after returning from holiday now.

Unsure if you followed the LIT & even Ematic thread, but many of the included batteries were pretty cheap (read : bad) and died soon after using them. It made people feel the remote was faulty, as the batteries has just been replaced. I think at one point it was decided to rather leave batteries out and it's continued that way

Most people already have rechargeable batteries.
