@ RavenXV Thank you for your reply
I thought things were getting better Monday fair 10 disconnects 14h00 to 22h00. Tuesday managed to watch some videos from Sencha on Ext JS only 3 disconnects and reasonable download speeds was able to watch online even in evening.
Wednesday back to normal 08h00-10h00 more than 10 disconnects gave up counting in evening switched to ADSL no disconnects.
Thursday same old no good story.

How is the speed when you move around in your house/neighborhood. There is a specific cause the the slow speed. Experiment a little so you can give Cell C something to work with.

Got two netbooks and a desktop and the problem persists with all 3 PCs on the bottom floor, the top floor and outside in the garden.

@BobsLawnService, please PM me your contact details, will contact you for more details...thanks, DM

The technician called me and left a message because I was unable to answer my phone. I did try watching a few Youtube videos for 45 minutes or so to test the connection and speeds were slow (between 300-400kb/s) but speeds were consistent and I didn't get dropped to EDGE and there were no disconnects. This morning things have been better with speeds between 800kb/s and 3mb/s. Touch wood it looks like the tech did something and it seems to have worked although as I mentioned, peak time 8pm last night was a little on the slow side.

Is your modem set to 3G only or are you referring to "EDGE like" speeds?

Modem is not set to 3G only. So I get dropped to EDGE and the speeds are decidedly EDGE-like. Yes, I know I can install third party software which will allow me to select 3G only but I'm not in the mood to fiddle with this stuff. It should work out the box.

*sigh* two disconnects in the last 30 minutes and it has just dropped to EDGE after a pretty good day.

I had the same problem as you guys for 2 months. After countless times of phoning Cellc I got no help. Then I got a network booster for the speedstick and then it worked perfectly, after they told me I have no coverage, but I had for 3 months before that, and another popular reason was they didn't know.

So, get a network booster, it helped me. It boosted my speed also to about 5mb/s

Could everyone that is having an issue please pm me the tower id, rssi, area and rough time of disconnections/slow speeds. Going to try compile a full list of everyone having this issue in CT and submit it to cell c. I will be doing this till this sunday so should be enough time for everyone to pm.

I think this is going to be a long list

sigh i got dc a few min ago .. granted my rssi is on -85dBm but for the last hour all data bellow 100kbps ... sigh

Ocean View near Kommetjie? There's no coverage.

It's Ocean View Drive (top of Sea Point)...

I checked it out tonight around from about 9, seemed to be very slow most of the time - apparently that's been the norm for the past week or so at least. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to get those IDs/RSSI, etc but hopefully it can still be logged.

I also struggle with slow speeds and sometimes I cannot even log in. I am in the Tableview area. It used to be quite fast when I got it in December, but it is quite slow now. Many evening I am stuck with using an Edge connection. Not cool!

Been getting excellent DL speeds this evening, Brackenfell Cape Town... 6.19mbps on a 7.2mbps modem... I just downloaded the latest version of XAMPP, 66mb, in under 2 minutes... that's whooooosh...

Hopefully this whoooosh stays!
