DigiChilli Network Status and Customer updates
DigiChilli Network Status update
Our Network is 7 days old. There are still unresolved issues. The increased traffic of all the new users tipped something that wasn't apparent during testing. Upstream issues were identified and some have been resolved.
The network is not as stable as we would like yet. The issues that we had on Thursday and Friday of instability are better. We took the decision to 'shape' all traffic until we had proper stats of what was causing the initial problem so that users could use the system.
The logging and tracing has been running and we should have a better view of where the issue was originating now. Based on this analysis we can make an informed decision on how to fix it.
There are four major components to the network.
Managing 4 separate segments is complicated and not just an issue of logging a call with Telkom or IS. We also have to rely on three other parties to identify and rectify issues.
We are focussing on stability, speed and latency. Once the issues have been identified and fixed, torrents will be allowed. FTP will be allowed. MSN will be allowed. Gaming will be prioritised. P2P will be allowed, etc.
We have reached our initial limit of chilli clients that we could load on the network and will be putting a freeze on activating more clients for a day or so til we have more IP's and the issues remedied.
We are not about to change the existing 4 packages. The survey was to understand better what our customers want.
Thank you for all the support.

There are four major components to the network.
- Telkom leg - Customer to DSLAM to IPC - Telkom interface
- Radius - Our AAA Sever
- Core to either local SAIX or International via Neotel and Seacom.
- London Breakout and transit.
