Network throughput performance benchmark software

Jeez, that was a mouthful!

We are having some problematic network points in our office, and would like to benchmark the network throughput of selected network points between workstation and server.

Anything free out there that someone has used successfully?

We would ideally need something that could "analyse" the connection, and provide feedback on throughput speed, packet losses, ping and any other useful diagnostic information. A bit like a "speedtest.net" for LAN if you like.

Ttry test from a machine with a NIC that has a harware network test. Is the point connected to a managed switch? If it is then you could check the switch logs....

You could also have a rouge machine flooding the network. Wireshark may be able to help you check this. (Also free and brilliant).
