NETWORK UPGRADES WILL BE TAKING PLACE IN GAUTENG

I live in the Parktown North area and for this whole week, I have had a problem with dropped calls, crossed lines on both my cel phones and only in this area. The only way I could stay in comms was with a land line. Thank goodness I still have telkom to help out. Contacted vodacom, logged the problem and they said they have a 24 hour turnaround. After 24 hours they phoned me and all the wanted to know was what were the numbers I was using. And then they said now that it would be another 24 hours before they could have a look at the problem.

Thumbs down to Vodacom and with this type of service delivery, hang on to your telkom landline.
 
Very glad to see Arcadia on the list. Had major connectivity problems in this area the past few months.
 
@VodacomData. Are these upgrade complete? I looked at some random areas on the upgrade page and they are all for 2009.

There is scheduled upgrades... I am so happy with this.

I don't mind slow speeds for a week .. I have a back MTN sim for situations like this :)

BTW.... my connection was awesome this morning ...

Many Reasons
1) The original upgrade phase that prompted this thread was completed in 2009
2) No-one has posted any relevant info pointing at new scheduled updates

Well I have been "upgraded" this weekend to GRPS, cool uh?

GOOD NEWS!

I have a flat/cottage near sandton +- 10 min away, and the last year I have NEVER had vodacom 3G indoors... With mtn I had a decent amount of coverage, but not vodacom! Signal has always been terrible... edge and gprs have been unusable (+5min to load a single web page, no jokes)
UNTIL RECENTLY, it suddenly started working!

So something must have changed and been improved! Good work...
 
The link to the upgraded towers seems to be broken, I saw some guys at our tower the other day, was hoping to see if it has been upgraded
 
Do these upgrades effect BIS at all?
And when are they done?!

It's EXTREMELY frustrating having BIS 80% of the time and even when it shows connected, it doesn't work. I got a snotty SMS from a friend a few minutes ago 'oh! You were only down for 20 minutes on that occasion!' . Yesterday I pop down the road to fit new tyres (about 50 minutes) and of that, I could browse 20 minutes while sitting in the waiting room. The rest of the time there was no signal - just as it's been for a few months.

As I said in another post - concentrate on VOICE! That's where you are good. I NEVER have issues and seldom hear of voice issues. When it comes to data and BIS, I only hear issues ....

MTN is more stable, Cell C a whole cheaper and Telkom much quicker than you. Give it up :/
 
I complained about the speeds in June 2010. They called back a few days ago... I think the tech department doesn't actually exist, like neotel's one.

Think its about time to stop giving/wasting R300 every month to Vodacom for gprs connection. 3G seems to cut 7:30am, then comes back on from 11:30 to 12 or so, and finally back at 11pm. Apparently they have been doing upgrades, but this has been happening for months...since June.

Quality service...eh, keep on pilling on more ads instead
