Thanks. What's the guild Name?
Totally trounced a couple of Level 60's last night with my level 36 thief during the orc assault event. lol. But got crappy rewards

I don't know yet - didn't have time to get online last night. I suspect that damages are a bit adapted for the orc event - my lvl 16 DC got total dmg comparable to a lvl 60 DC. There's no way a 16 DC should even be able to survive a shot from a lvl 60 orc, never mind kill it. Could you get a wolf? I've done about 6 runs, got no wolf, and grew bored with it.

No wolf, but I need a healing companion more. Single hit from the boss orc took slightly more than half my total hp. lol. Also loot drops were all Level 45 & above, so totally useless for me

Never liked these games but got dragged into it by my bro & his girl this past weekend as they needed a ''healer'' type character to join in and I must say, it is not bad at all. Was overwhelmed at first (but mostly because I'd never got into anything like it) and was apprehensive as I have never found magic-type characters appealing, but once I got into the game and realised that the Cleric can pwn schit, it became quite fun.

I'm level 18 at the mo.

I'm trying to build my DC (Devoted Cleric, for those who don't know the acronyms yet) into a PvP player. What's your @ handle? Would your brother and his GF be interested to join us? My main char is a lvl 60 TR, the guild creator is a lvl 60 DC, so we should be albe to help you if you need to do a dungeon and can't get a good group. My DC is now lvl 25, so depending on how fast you play we might meet each other on the road.

Forgive my n00bness, but what is an @handle?

I can ask my bro but won't guarantee anything. He's not big on guilds.

Side question: Last night I ran around by myself for an hour or so in the Tower District tailing other players and healed them as they went along. I was generally 4 - 5 levels ahead of them. Like I said, this is the first time I've ever played an MMO so I'm not familiar with in-game etiquette, but do players find it as interference if a healer-type character tails them?

Your @handle is your perfectworld nick... It's on the top left corner of the neverwinter game client after you've logged in. Before you click play :)

I don't think anyone at your level will see it as interference - most people there are simply trying to level up. At lvl 60 you'll get people who are farming, and who might see it as interference, though I've never had complaints.

As for a guild - in NW you have to do dungeons in order to get good gear. At low levels it is easy to get a group for a dungeon, and everybody there really wants to complete the dungeon. At lvl 60, PUGging (Pick-Up Group - in NW called queuing) can become very difficult. It took me about two weeks before I managed to enter Castle Never with a full group, and even then the group couldn't kill the second boss, as we had a really bad CW (Control Wizard).

The guild my main char is in doesn't have a forum, and is basically a vehicle to ask a few players you know if they'll join you for the dungeon. There are no requirements or obligations. I've gone up to 60 without a guild, then realized that in order to get even mediocre gear, I will have to get a more stable playing environment than PUGging.

Update on the guild: the guild creator (David / @cohenbear) says that it is not going to be exclusive SA, but that only English and Afrikaans will be allowed. Personally I would just have one of my toons in a guild with SAers in to make it easier to find groups when I'm actually online. The guild's name is Widowmakers.

Thanks for the guild info Tacet. I'll pm David / @cohenbear when I'm playing tonight. :)

So far I've only gotten good gear from nightmare boxes... I always seem to lose out on blue gear when running dungeons in a group :(

I haven't bought any keys yet - still trying to figure out if it is actually worth it. To get my GS (Gear Score) higher, I need to either farm CN (Castle Never), or spend about 2 M AD. I still have to spend actual money on the game, though I'll do so in the near future. I don't like buying gear with $, but I feel that I've played it enough to give the devs their due.

Can't you get decent blue gear at the AH? You're a lvl 36 TR?

Quickly looking at the AH: you can get a Smiting Victor's Mask for 8500 AD, a +3 Tempered Nefarious Leather Armor for 14.6k AD, Bracers of Devilry for 171, and Victor's Boots of Respite for 5315.

All of those are slotted - you can get a full set of unslotted gear for less than 500AD per item.

BTW: you know about the gateway site? gateway.playneverwinter.com
Evil site, that - it allows you access to the AH, your professions, your inbox and your guild from your browser.

I've had a few thank yous when I've helped a solo player out before. One last night took on a Savage, then while trying to run away upset an Eye of Gruumsh Warder then proceeded to flee into a group of Axe-Throwers. Poor fella was nearly killed.

My handle is @thestaggy.

We had a problem trying to get a crew together for a Cloak Tower run, so I can see where a guild will come in handy when things get heavy.

At the moment my brother is a 19 RT (Rogue Trickster) and his girl is a 19 CW (Control Wizard), so it's a decent balance.

Let me know whenever you struggle to get a group together. Sometimes if I can't get a group for the DD (Dungeon Delves) event, I'll do CT (Cloak Tower) a couple of times just to get the loot chest. With my TR I can solo most dungeons, probably up to about lvl 50 dungeons. My DC will fit in well with your group, for more conventional playing.

Mmm - almost time to buy horses, then. Do you have enough gold (5) to do so?

Tacet. I'm still finding my way around. So there's still a lot I haven't toyed with. :D
I managed to get 2 low level shadow daggers with 275 damage & I think 150 life steal from the shadow boxes (unslotted). I'm still using them now at level 40. Also 2 weapon flame enchantments Which I'm keeping for a rainy day ;)

I should really browse the auction house. lol. I have 230k AD which I'm spending some time.

Those flame enchants - are they full enchantments, or shards? Full enchants are extremely expensive (more than 100k AD each), whereas shards are negligible. Problem is that when you combine shards (it takes four) you have a 1% chance of success.

I gear my DC at the AH every 10 lvls. I've found that good gear simply helps me to level much faster.

^^Enjoy! Have contemplated trying it, but I'll stick to NW for now. I don't have enough time for two MMOs.

After reading the patch notes I'm not too sure I'll be playing Neverwinter that much.

Are you a TR? Many TRs, especially those who branched heavily into stealth, complains that the patch will kill them. Mine is focusing much more on power, so I'll see what the effect is. Or do you have other issues with the patch notes?
