New 1 series - Thoughts?

It's the not the classier nor the better quality of the two ....

But you are right in taking it over the BMW :P

Yeah I agree with you. But I'm saying that a base model 116i is comparable to the top of the range Polo. Having driven both, the Polo GTI is noticeably better on the inside than the normal Polo.

So yeah it's no contest for the 116i when it comes up against a normal Polo, but the GTI has much more going for it.

Other recommendations mentioned in the same segment were Golf, A3, Focus, Astra etc.

Its two different cars for two completely different markets. No point comparing... But anyone suggesting that the Polo is better built quality or has a higher quality interior must be a little crazy or simply has never sat in a new BMW. The new 1's interior has also changed vastly from the previous model

The 1 Series is ridiculously overpriced.

The 120d which will be the best in the segment - is only slightly cheaper than the 320d...

Argh, I wish we could pay the same prices as the rest of the world for cars...
 
For the price I would agree the polo GTI is a better car.


I drive a 320d and absolutely love it though :P - don't diss the bm for no reason :)

They're advocating them because a Polo (probably a 1.4) was the most luxurious car they have ever driven so the GTI has to be good...
