Auto 120d any day... Although I'd rather take the 120, 125 or whichever petrol model they are bringing here which is one up from the 118i

My argument was related to build quality of the Polo GTI vs BMW 1 series ... and I think the Polo GTI is poorer. That said, I'd take most things before a 1 Series

There you go, he BM has better cupholders

and the cup-holder recesses in the base of the doors are cleverly designed and spacious. Here, at least, it kicks a Golf or A3 into touch.

Maybe "segment" is not the proper word. I meant "target market". Technically they may be the same size and stuff, but I just don't see how anyone (especially from a South African context) would be looking at buying a 1-Series but end up walking away happy with a Ford Focus. No offence to the Focus though, I'm getting me a used ST in the not too distant future
