So I never had 8ta coverage at my home but my prepaid sim with my blackberry bold 9900 is set up so it can roam mtn and access 8ta if its got.

This morning I woke up and it wasn't roaming anymore and had full bars 8ta coverage. So I got excited and ran some test to see what the speeds are and at 1 point I hit 10mbps and in a download manager I managed to get 1.1MB/s download speed. This was kinda epic and tested my bis on my phone was also around 800KB/s.

Now I see I no more have 8ta coverage and suddenly I roam mtn again. Looks like the tower is still in the process of being set up? How would I be able to find out if its a fault or if its still being setup. Trying to phone customer care is not getting me anywhere cause they don't know if the tower even exists....

May not necessarily be a 8ta tower. Perhaps they have gotten around to installing their own antennas on the MTN or Vodacom or CellC tower near you. Might still be testing the site.

Fixed. For some obscure reason Vodacom are not keen to share towers with 8ta; or so I hear....

Thought as much cause we got a MTN "tree" relatively close by.... But still looked so promissing and fast now my speed is gone OLED.... pfff

My nearby tower was supposed to be Vodacom (reading signs), but it is owned by Telkom. How they can prevent 8ta from installing their own antennas? They can't, now it is 8ta tower.

Well all I know is I lost coverage on 8ta since 21/04/2012 12:45 and its still down. Not a train smash cause its roaming on mtn but its slow and its EDGE only. Sigh

If owned by Telkom then Vodacom rent space from them. I'm referring to VC owned towers and sites.

You know nothing about this particular tower and it is only speculation of being owned by Vodacom. I gave you example it could be reverse.

Sigh it was on Yesterday and today its off again. SIGH

Yes it came back yesterday. Hope it doesn't die again. Nice speeds too.

Feel I can get more cause if I hold my blackberry 9900 in the air like to the window I see speeds of 10mbps

I just moved it and now seeing these speeds
