Morning, right on Tuesday Telkom is coming to install my ADSL line, would just like to find out a few pointers/advice from you guys please...

1. A Good Wireless & Wired router you can recommended for reasonably cheap if possible
2. when calling mweb to get the service, is it instant activation on my line or is there delays?
3. 512 line is good ?? im not a heavy downloader just xbox live, youtube and browsing

thanks in advance

I'd recommend D-link 2400u for it's wireless to work with xbox. Or get a 2500u and something else to host the wireless. I use an apple Airport Express and the add-on Airport Extremes all over the house, but it's out of most peoples price range.

Make an mweb account right now. That takes a day I think. Add an adsl account on it when your line is up, then it should be instant.

Just get 4meg. You'll upgrade to it later anyway, you are just wasting your life waiting for youtube to buffer on a 512 line :)

Depends on the state of your exchange i.e. whether there are ports available for your ADSL service. If not, there can be a significant delay as they really only install new hardware when there is demand.

1. TP-Link W8960N 300Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Router
http://www.dbg.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=1_55_57&products_id=383

Best router Best Price and Future Proofed

Wireless N 300 mbps and 4 lan ports

Also gives best adsl line stats all for R500

An offer you cant refuse. Company delivers in 1 - 2 days

2. Should be instant to make mweb accounts and always keep line with telkom

3. 512 is waste of money its either 384k or 4 meg line
also 384k will be buffering youtube videos yet a 4 meg line will run smoothly
