Good day

My Telkom line has just been activated today and it is working, ie I can phone my cellphone from the landline.

I have taken a 2 Mbps adsl bundle from afrihost. I got the username and password and everything.

I have a D-Link DSL-2750U router that I bought at the Telkom shop.

The problem is that it seems like the line is not syncing. I don't know if I should give it a couple of days or if it should work immediately.

Now I have entered the connection details that I received from Afrihost, but this router has a lot of other settings as well. Can these other settings be the cause for my lack of connectivity?

Is there someone else using afrihost and this specific router that might shed some light on what is happening?

Afrihost said it should take 14-30 days to transfer the dsl line to them, but as far as I know this should not stop me from using the adsl service.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Good day,

I have the exact same problem!

2Mbps Uncapped bundle from afrihost, new modem (asus dsl N12U) and brand new adsl user.

I received a message from afrihost that the adsl line order has completed from telkom(on the 5th), but the line won't sync.
Tried to remove the phone and filter, plugged the modem into the other port in the house, but it still won't sync.
Voice calls are still fine though.

No joy with the clientzone tools either, only the port reset completes successfully, the others fail.

Afrihost sent me a mail to try the telkom guest account as well, saying that from the tests on their side it seems my modem is off.

I would also appreciate any assistance in this regard, maybe something that I missed?

Thanks

I would say that your ADSL is not ready on Telkom's side, or it could be a line fault, or distance from the exchang/line noise etc. As Chevron said, first step would be to verify your line with Telkom.

Don't know why (you) people transfer your lines to ISPs to save a few Rand, when the ISPs themselves are reliant on Telkom.

When the ISP stuffs-out from a service point of view, or other problem, then you have the hassle moving it back to Telkom in order to sign up with another ISP, no?
